This year’s version is hosting many schools from the northwest corner of Louisiana along with a couple of schools from Central Louisiana (Cenla). Day one got off to a fantastic start and day two was even better with players who impressed with their play on the court. In this review from the “Doc” Edwards tournament, we will take a look at some of the players who impressed on the day.
Trey Carter (5’9″ | Huntington)
Carter was the tournament MVP and for good reason. He shot the ball well from three and played solid defense when he came in off the bench. Carter spent the tournament changing moment for the Raiders each time he hit the floor. No one accounted for him and he was excellent with catch and shoot situations. Carter is another ballhandler for the Raiders. His presence is truly felt when he is making shots from three.
Jbari Adams Jbari Adams 6'4" | SF Ringgold | 2024 State LA (6’4″ | Ringgold)
Adams team may have taken to losses during the “Doc” Edwards. However, Adams got a chance to show the skill set that he has. He has one of the better one dribble pull-ups I have seen in reference to lift and extension. Adams is long and athletic as they come on the prep scene. He can handle, rebound, and block shots with his frame. Adams led his team in scoring and is a talented player to watch going forward.

(6’2″ | Hornbeck)
Alexander is one of the best players in Class C and he showed what he is capable of even in the midst of a loss. Brady is a very good rebounder and he pounded their opponents on the offensive boards when he had the opportunity. He is also a good shooter from 16 feet in. Alexander displayed that he can have success inside and out which makes him a difficult match-up.
Jayden Easter (6’5″ | BTW-Shreveport)
Easter showed that he is a disruptive defensive force and a good offensive option during the Lions run as the consolation champions. His ability to block shots shows how good his timing is. Easter is also very good at offensive tips and rebounds to give his team extra possessions. On offense, he has a solid jumper out to 13 feet and he finishes at the rim effectively because he has a good pair of hands. Easter played well in Bossier.
Clifton Jones (6’1″ | Lakeview)
The Lakeview guard made his presence known during game one of the tournament. He started with a 20 point game and played well from there. His ability to score on various levels was evident from the way he shot from the perimeter and finished in the paint. Jones is also good at changing speeds in transition which helps with his scoring and finishing ability as well. Jones will be a key to the Gator success in Class 2A.
Trevon Jackson Trevon Jackson 5'10" | PG Airline | 2024 State LA (6’0″ | Airline)
Jackson was one of the scoring leaders for the Vikings during the tournament. Not only did he shoot the ball well from behind the arc, he showed that he is very good at getting to the rim. Jackson has enough speed to take advantage of defenders who give him a straight line to the cup. He is also gifted with the handle and can attack from different angles. His ability to attack from various spots on the floor makes him a threat at all times.
Colossians Mason-Jones Colossians Mason-Jones 5'9" | PG BTW-Shreveport | 2024 State LA (5’10” | BTW-Shreveport)
Mason-Jones showed he is more than just a small guard who can shoot during the “Doc” Edwards tourney. He was heavily involved in the Lion wins playing solid help defense and also causing disruption on the perimeter. Offensively, he shot the ball extremely well from three showing a quick release along with being very accurate. His speed with the ball helped him create opportunities for his teammates in transition. Jones was a baller in Bossier last week.
The Doc Edwards tournament was won by Huntington on the boys side and Gibsland-Coleman on the girls side. The northwest corner of Louisiana had a good showing in Bossier City which should lead to an even better event next season.
