On January 6, 2023 the Jaguars of Boulder Creek traveled to central Phoenix to take on the Brophy Prep Broncos. Both teams were missing arguably their top players in [player_tooltip player_id='831117' first='Arman' last='Madi'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1150940' first='Rowan' last='McKenzie'].

Junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='996166' first='Braeden' last='Speed'] kept it close with a few mid range jumpers to end the quarter. Boulder was up 22-16 at the end of 1. Boulder Creek continued the hot shooting that they began the game with. The had a 41-34 lead going into the half.

Here we take a look at some of the impact players from the game:

[player_tooltip player_id='1150843' first='Andrew' last='Bhesania'] Boulder Creek (Pictured left)

The big man came thru with another double double. He took high percentage shots on the offensive end and controlled the glass on the defensive end. His ballhandling is constantly improving which makes him even more of a threat offensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='996166' first='Braeden' last='Speed'] Brophy Prep

Speed showed his improving offensive game. He picked his spots offensively for good shots and used his muscle in the paint to create space. He carried the Broncos offensively in stretches. When given the opportunity, he pushed the tempo for the offense to get easier scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='1276753' first='Ayden' last='Madi'] Brophy Prep

The sophomore guard might have had his coming out party. He had numerous steals on the defensive end due to his instincts and active hands. On offense Ayden displayed a pretty jump shot out past the three point line. He was smart enough to know when his man was overplaying him that he beat them backdoor multiple times. Stock is rising in his class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482208' first='Dylan' last='Spilde'] Boulder Creek (Pictured right)

A bigger guard who played with a lot of poise and hit some timely shots. Dylan showed a good pace to his game as he didn't force shots. When the opportunity was there he attacked the basket very aggressively.

[player_tooltip player_id='1483886' first='Landon' last='Brewer'] Boulder Creek

Shooting was the immediate thing that I noticed when watching Landon. He has beautiful form on his shot and he lets it go each time with confidence. He's probably the main beneficiary of great ball movement that Boulder Creek shows each time that I see them.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490239' first='Daylen' last='Sharper'] Brophy Prep

Sharper has a good build which enabled him to shield off defenders. Although just a freshman, he quite often set the tempo for the Broncos offense. His outside shot is becoming more consistent. It will be exciting to watch his continued development on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150903' first='Rocket' last='Schwertley'] Brophy Prep

Although he played in the JV game, Schwertley clearly showed the ability to be a big contributor on varsity in the future. The freshman has a good feel for the game. He anticipates the double team very well and knows how to pass out of it. He also displayed a soft touch from mid range and in.
