Following the Christmas break, WIAA boy’s basketball action resumes this week. Here’s a look at the marquee games to watch on Tuesday…
D.C. Everest (5-2) vs. Appleton East (4-4) (Sun Drop Shootout)
Both teams are in search of a resume building win.
Appleton East is off to a bit of a slow start. The Patriots, who have played a fairly loaded schedule thus far, enter on a two-game slide. Junior guard Joey LaChapell Joey LaChapell 5'10" | PG Appleton East | 2024 State WI is having a breakout season, however, posting 21 points and five assists per game. Hillsdale commit Caleb Klaser (18.9 ppg) and Winona State commit Tyson Keil Tyson Keil 6'6" | PF Appleton East | 2023 State WI (12.0 ppg) haven’t been too shabby in their own right.
One of the most improved teams in the state, Everest can get arguably their biggest win of the season. UW-Green Bay commit Marcus Hall Marcus Hall 6'5" | SF D.C. Everest | 2023 State WI has been as good as advertised, posting 26 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists per outing.
Kenosha Indian Trail (4-2) vs. Westosha Central (5-1) (Carthage College)
Sneaky good non-conference game here between a pair of teams close in proximity.
Central’s lone loss game to a very good Burlington squad capable of making a run to the Kohl Center in March. Sophomore guard Elijah Griffin Elijah Griffin 6'1" | PG Westosha Central | 2025 State #352 Nation WI is doing what he was expected to do in year two — make a jump. The playmaking floor general is dropping 14 points and five assists per game.
Currently atop the Southeast conference, KIT has been a little up and down this season, but perfect in league play. Junior forward M.J. Stackhouse M.J. Stackhouse 6'7" | PF Kenosha Indian Trail | 2024 State WI will be a handful to contain. The long, bouncy big man enters Tuesday averaging 24 points per game.
Madison La Follette (3-1) at Madison East (3-2)
The first installment of this crosstown rivalry takes place on the east side.
La Follette can move one game back of Middleton in the Big Eight standings with a win. Augustana commit Arhman Lewis Arhman Lewis 5'9" | PG Madiosn Laffollette | 2023 State WI leads the way for the Lancers at 23.3 ppg. Junior guard Quinton Lomack Quinton Lomack 6'1" | CG Madison La Follette | 2024 WI is next in line at 17 pppg.
East is also 3-1 in league play and has surprised early on in the year. The Purgolders won’t get their best player back until January, but sophomore guard Camron Henderson Camron Henderson 6'0" | CG Madison East | 2024 State WI has done a nice job carrying the load, posting 15 points and four assists per outing.
