There are some holiday tournaments that will be starting this week which always create some interesting matchups of teams from different parts of the state. Let’s take a look at the best games taking place on Tuesday evening.
Hammond Central @ Crown Point
Hammond Central moved to 6-0 over the weekend with an overtime victory over Gary 21st Century. The Wolves are now ranked #16 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Super Poll after their perfect start to the season. Senior guard Jordan Woods Jordan Woods 6'2" | PG Hammond Central | 2023 State IN , an Eastern Illinois football commit, and junior guard Matthew King Matthew King 6'3" | SG Bosco Institute | 2024 IN makeup a dynamic backcourt for Hammond Central. As for Crown Point, they are now 4-2 after a close 46-44 loss to Munster over the weekend. Bellarmine signee A.J. Lux A.J. Lux 6'3" | SG Crown Point | 2023 State IN is the obvious name to know here, but junior guard Jack Svetich Jack Svetich 6'2" | SG Crown Point | 2024 State IN has really made a name for himself to start this season.
Leo @ Homestead
Outside of an impressive win over Warsaw, Homestead hasn’t exactly been tested through the first five games of the season. However, they are 5-0 which is awfully impressive considering they lost the Mr. Basketball runner-up who is now a starting guard at Purdue as a freshman along with other graduating seniors. Senior Kyron Kaopuiki Kyron Kaopuiki 6'3" | SG Homestead | 2023 State IN has stepped into the star role of the Spartans backcourt and junior guard Will Jamison Will Jamison 6'0" | PG Homestead | 2024 State IN is having a fantastic season as well. Homestead is ranked #12 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Super Poll. The Leo Lions are 4-4 featuring a talented backcourt of juniors Jackson Mcgee and Trey Hiteshew.
Marion @ Noblesville
These two teams each suffered their first loss of the season over the weekend. Marion fell 90-72 at Kokomo while Noblesville lost 48-43 at Westfield on Friday night. The Millers, now 4-1, are still ranked #9 in the state by Prep Hoops Indiana led by senior guard Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN and junior running mate Aaron Fine Aaron Fine 6'3" | PG Noblesville | 2024 State IN . Meanwhile, the Giants are 6-1 with sophomore wing Jaymen Townsend Jaymen Townsend 6'6" | SF Marion | 2025 State #248 Nation IN putting together a big season. Both programs will be looking to notch a quality win after losing their undefeated records.
Southport @ Avon
After a disappointing loss during the Forum Tip-Off Classic at home against Crown Point, Southport has bounced back with back-to-back wins. Anthony Dancler Anthony Dancler 6'2" | SG Southport | 2023 State IN is having a fantastic senior season and should be playing his way back into Division I offers for any program that needs a scoring card. The Cardinals are 5-2 and ranked #13 in this week’s Prep Hoops Indiana Super Pool. Avon enters this evening’s game with a 2-3 record led by talented junior guard Jordan Lomax Jordan Lomax 6'3" | SG Brownsburg | 2024 State IN averaging 16.6 points per game.
Zionsville @ Kokomo
The game of the night is up north this evening at Memorial Gymnasium featuring #4 Kokomo and #8 Zionsville. The obvious draw here is 6’10” 5-star junior center Flory Bidunga Flory Bidunga 6'9" | C Kokomo | 2024 State #7 Nation IN averaging 20.3 points, 13.4 rebounds, and 5.9 blocks per game for Kokomo. He will be going head-to-head down low with 6’9″ Charlotte signee Nick Richart Nick Richart 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2023 State IN in this one who will provide some resistance around the rim. The Eagles also feature Penn State signee Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN as one of the best guards in the state of Indiana. Kokomo has won four straight games to move to 5-2 while Zionsville is 5-3 having played an incredibly tough schedule to this point.
