Teams
Alta, Hawks
The Alta Hawks have been playing at a great pace early this season. Now they have a few tough wins as they have beaten Woods Cross, Copper Hills and Lone Peak. The impressive aspect about their early run is that they have had multiple players perform at a high level. There have been games where Nash Hink has gone off, then Ace Reiser Ace Reiser 6'0" | PG Alta | 2024 State UT and then Jaxon Johnson Jaxon Johnson 6'8" | SF Alta | 2024 State #106 Nation UT . Their role player contribution has been stellar as well. Their strength of schedule is not as tough as some other 5A programs but they do remain undefeated. We are anticipating tough region battles between Orem, Timpview and Lehi as this team is prepping for a good run. Alta remains as one of three undefeated teams in the state.
Manti, Templars
We wanted to give one of the more impressive smaller schools some love as Manti is back at it again. Their only loss this season comes against a good Timpview team on the first game of the year. They have a balanced scoring attack as they have multiple players contributing. Dylan Anderson has been putting up 12 PPG and shooting the ball well from deep. Reggie Frischknecht is a bigger guard for his classification that seems to do well near the paint. Manti has about 9 players that seem to get in the rotation and produce. They have a great matchup against Desert Hills coming up.
Scoring
Chris Cox Chris Cox 6'7" | SF AZ Compass Prep | 2024 State AZ has been solid and in the last 4 games Chris has been on fire scoring 23,23,23,41. While he is scoring a lot of points his team is also winning these games. He is not simply dominating the ball or staying in the game late to get numbers, he is playing the right way and he is playing with a big time motor. This kid is a stock riser and even though he has not committed or received a ton of D1 offers he is good and better than most in this class.
On this 4 game winning streak Quentin has been lights out. He has been averaging around 30 PPG on this winning streak and it seems like Cyprus is staring to click. They are not fully healthy as a team but Quentin remains consistent as he has been getting different looks. Teams are blitzing him and trapping on those on ball screens nut it seems to not be working as he is winning and putting up big numbers. Good luck on the scout and trying to figure him out. One more thing, Quentin could really zero in on 2,000 points if given the opportunity.
