On Monday, December 12th I watched the 6A Chandler Wolves host the 6A Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles.

The home team Chandler was 2-4 overall and Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles were 2-2 on the season. SDO ended up winning the varsity game 67-57 led by a balanced attack. Before the varsity game, I watched the JV game. Both teams had some talented young players to look out for in the near future.

Here were the standouts from the Varsity game:

[player_tooltip player_id='996171' first='Ezias' last='Steffen'] Chandler

A three level scorer can hit the catch three, score thru contact with his sturdy frame and he hit contested pull-ups from mid-range. He hit a step back three and a fall away that was impressive in this contest plus a nasty euro/and-1 to keep the game close in the 4th quarter. He was definitely the bright spot for the Wolves.

[player_tooltip player_id='1285501' first='Cezer' last='Sotomayor'] Chandler

A scoring guard who can play on or off the ball. He was very aggressive to start the game as he can pull-up off the dribble from mid to the three. He rattles them off quickly with a very quick release. He moves the ball for the best shot and his passing skills have improved from last year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1633021' first='Braylen' last='Singleton'] Chandler

A bigger sized, defensive minded combo guard is very good on the ball defensively. He picked a couple of pockets and scored. He can hit the catch three plus euro his way to the basket and finish off tough layups.

[player_tooltip player_id='1159406' first='Kaden' last='Garber'] Chandler

A steady shooter from both levels. He can hit the three and from mid-range. He is a strong guard who plays with confidence. He will make the extra pass and plays smartly off the pick and roll game. He uses his sturdy frame to defend the on the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1698856' first='Velijah' last='Miller'] Chandler

A long and fluid combo guard is active in the passing lanes and will rebound and block shots. He runs the court for transition points and has a nice first step to get to the basket. The younger brother of VJ Miller from AZ Compass has a lot to like.

[player_tooltip player_id='1698912' first='Gary' last='Zehrebach'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A face-up four-man can catch and shoot from the three point line with a quick release. He made some clutch free throws down the stretch to hold on to win. He rebounds well in his area and plays from the neck up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1333492' first='Michael' last='Simcoe'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A talented forward explodes up to flush it down with great hands. He catches every pass thrown his way and he will play the passing lanes and collect steals that lead to dunks for him. He will challenge all shots at the rim and he slides his feet quickly in space to defend guards but will man up in the post to block or rebound. He can hit the three, rip thru and score through heavy contact.

[player_tooltip player_id='1699033' first='Ryan' last='Larson'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A sturdy framed wing who can score from inside and out. He is a very good undersized rebounder and will block shots with a huge motor. He can make the catch three when given space and time and rattle them off one by one. He seems to be their glue guy as he does many things for them. He handles it a little, rebounds, scores and makes smart decisions with the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1698918' first='Blake' last='Colvin'] Sandra Day O'Connor

A scoring guard who is your catch and shoot specialist of the team. Chandler was leaving him open and Colvin was making them pay with five triples. As tough as Simcoe was to defend, Colvin is what separated this game. He continues to shoot this way, the Eagles will keep winning.

[player_tooltip player_id='1490240' first='Colton' last='Watson'] Sandra Day O'Connor (Pictured)

A long and active wing forward. He is great on the glass and scores on put backs and gets to the basket on runners. He runs the court well and he will take a rebound and go coast to coast. He makes his free throws and plays the passing lanes to collect steals well. He made a huge put back off of an offensive rebound under a minute to essentially seal the win.

On Monday, December 12th I watched the 6A Chandler Wolves host the 6A Sandra Day O'Connor Eagles.
