Proviso West Holiday Tournament: Day 2 Standouts

When Brown got into foul trouble, Johnson became an offensive force in the paint. He had at least four offensive rebounds in the first half to go along with a second chance slam. Johnson would finish with 27 points and 12 boards. A ferocious dunk driving baseline would cap off a terrific night.     [player_tooltip player_id='1157228' first='James' last='Brown'], St. Rita 2024   He got into foul trouble early, but made a big impact while on the floor. he displayed terrific defensive posture and continued to challenge opponents down low. LP only scored two points before he was subbed in the first quarter. They scored nine points after that that were mostly inside. His speed with the ball in transition is excellent for his position. Brown almost went coast-to-coast for a slam in the third quarter but was fouled.     [player_tooltip player_id='939057' first='Dalen' last='Davis'], Whitney Young 2023   Davis put on an all-around offensive performance against Hammond. He knocked down three 3-pointers in the first half and showed lots of confidence with the ball throughout the game. As a ball-handler, he displayed some excellent dribble-moves in the 2nd quarter. His ability to break past defenders and score inside was shown in the third quarter with three inside buckets. A big and-one finish late put the game out of reach. Davis scored 20 points.     [player_tooltip player_id='1048324' first='Daniel' last='Johnson'], Whitney Young 2023   Another strong performance from Johnson, who knocked down challenging mid-range shots and took advantage of his size to play excellent defense and finish athletically inside. He had an impressive third quarter run with a 3, midrange jumper and breakaway slam.     [player_tooltip player_id='939056' first='Bryce' last='Coleman'], Proviso East 2023   Coleman outsized everyone against TF North. His first play was a posterizing dunk over a smaller meteor player. He later converted an and-one and posted up for some more easy buckets. His footwork inside was really solid. On defense, he forcing difficult shots on both the inside and on the perimeter. Coleman would score 15 points with 9 rebounds and 3 assists.     [player_tooltip player_id='1048386' first='Jaloni' last='Johnson'], Proviso East 2023   Johnson is an athletic guard who gets up and down the floor at a quick rate and can create challenges for opponents on both ends. Johnson would earn buckets all over the floor and played with confidence the entire night. He led the way for Proviso east with 17 points.     Jevon Warren, TF North 2023   An exciting player for TF North that's starting to get on people's radar's. Made inside scoring look easy with countless baskets in the paint. He's an excellent defender and rebounder who can do it all. Finished with an astounding 27 points in a 74-60 loss.     [player_tooltip player_id='1385283' first='Aleks' last='Alston'], Kenwood 2025   If you want a 6'9” forward who can catch fire, look at Alston. He's got NBA size and length for his position and how he can make an impact on the court. Hit four 3-pointers in a row in the 2nd quarter and got the crowd on its feet. He finished with 24 points and 8-11 from behind the arc.
