Let’s look at some of the standout forwards who took part in this tournament!!
Aidan Williams- Barbers Hill High School (2025)
Aidan played a crucial part in the Eagles blowout victory over Friendswood High School early on Saturday afternoon and this is why he has earned the featured image of this week’s article. Williams had unmatched hustle and aggressiveness crashing the basket on both ends of the court and was all over securing loose balls for his squad. Aidan also showed that he is a capable shooter when left open by the defense and converted several and-1 opportunities under the basket on offense. He is very vocal when it comes to defensive awareness and is always in the middle of the play, making his presence known. Aidan Williams will be a name to remember in the 5A region of Houston for the next few seasons as the rising hooper is only a sophomore this year.
Manuel Ruiz- Tomball High School (2024)
Manuel played a huge role for his Tomball Cougar team in their victory against Liberty High School to open up Saturday morning. Ruiz acted as a hybrid forward/center getting great looks driving to the rim and also showing efficiency from the midrange as well. He was exceptional on the defensive side of the ball, totaling about 6-7 blocks in the contest and coming down with several critical rebounds. Manuel was a great source of ball movement as well and excelled in the pick and roll, getting several easy baskets at the rim after setting the screens. He also showed a bit of a three point touch, hitting a couple long range shots down the stretch.
Hunter Bunn- Barbers Hill High School (2023)
Hunter was a dominant presence in the post for the Eagles this tournament and was also a deep range threat as he netted several three pointers from distance against Friendswood on Saturday afternoon. Bunn was a great source of energy for his team on the offensive end as he was doing everything from crashing the boards to setting hard screens and handling the ball when needed. Hunter and teammate Aidan Williams were an impressive combo to watch as they created multiple problem scenarios for opponents under the basket as well as on the perimeter. Hunter used his huge size to his advantage and just had his way at the rim, converting several dunks and layups for easy buckets. Hunter will look to make a strong case for himself this season and gather offers from colleges who need an efficient big!!
Jackson Fiesinger- Friendswood High School (2023)
Jackson was one of the lone bright spots for his Friendswood squad in their tough loss against Barbers Hill on Saturday, but he was putting in the work on both ends of the floor. Jackson displayed a unique show of ballhandling for his size and was able to maneuver past his matchup to the basket several times. Fiesinger is also capable of expanding his game to the perimeter where he had several chances to knock down open jumpers and took advantage of most of these opportunities. He plays a major role in this Mustangs offense as they look to play small ball most of the season and Jackson will figure to thrive in this kind of offensive style.
