The opening day of the basketball season is right around the corner as NJSIAA play tips off on December 15. Teams are preparing to make deep runs in the state tournament and have glue guys that will do what it takes to help their teams win. Here are the glue guys that could have a big impact on the state tournament.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150263' first='Evan' last='Cabral'], 6'2 CG Don Bosco Prep 2023

Cabral returns to the starting lineup for the Ironmen, where he will have a big impact for them. The 6'2 guard is a tenacious defender as he knows how to get deflections and makes it tough for teams to run their offense. Cabral is unselfish with the ball in his hands and is unafraid of diving on the floor for loose balls. He is a strong finisher around the basket and moves well without the ball in his hands. Cabral is a gamer who should be a key part to Don Bosco Prep's success this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1389143' first='Griffin' last='Linstra'], 6'4 CG Manasquan 2025

Linstra does a little bit of everything for the Warriors as they look to win their third straight sectional title. The 6'4 guard has a good handle, which he uses to get by defenders and finish around the rim. Linstra makes good decisions with the ball in his hands, in addition with his ability to make opponents pay for giving him space from distance. He is one of the top on-ball defenders in the Shore Conference and moves well within the offense. Linstra is a gritty, two-way guard whose ability to make plays at both ends of the floor will be vital for Manasquan this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='902751' first='Cornelius' last='Robinson'], 6'5 SF Camden 2023

The Panthers will be one of New Jersey's top teams again this season and Robinson's role is key for them. The Albany commit has a motor that never stops as he is constantly fighting for rebounds in addition to playing tough on-ball defense. Robinson attacks the basket with a purpose as he is a strong finisher around the basket and is unafraid of contact. He can knock down open shots on the perimeter and has an underrated handle. Robinson is a hard-working forward prospect who is looking to lead Camden back to a Group 2 title.

[player_tooltip player_id='1013071' first='Christian' last='Pierre-Louis'], 6'2 SG Roselle Catholic 2023

Pierre-Louis did all the dirty work for last season's TOC winning squad and will do it again this season. The 6'2 lefty is one of the top rebounding guards in the state as he is able to sky for boards against much taller players. Pierre-Louis knows how to get to the basket and is unafraid of contact around the rim. He is the top available on-ball defender in the state as opponents rarely get good looks off of him. Pierre-Louis is a player to watch for Roselle Catholic as he does whatever it takes to help his team win games.

[player_tooltip player_id='1269732' first='Kamal' last='Lee'], 6'0 PG St. Thomas Aquinas 2023

Lee made a big splash in his debut season for the Trojans and should have another big season in 2022-23. The Chestnut Hill commit has a smooth release on his jumper and shoots the ball with confidence from distance. Lee is more than just a shooter as he has a good handle and can finish around the rim. He moves well without the ball in his hands and can find his open teammates in the half court. Lee is a tough lead guard who is looking to end his varsity career on a high note.

Other Prospects to Watch:

[player_tooltip player_id='902754' first='Jordan' last='Atkins'], 6'0 PG Rutgers Prep 2023

[player_tooltip player_id='1466439' first='Chris' last='Cervino'], 5'9 PG Ramapo 2024

[player_tooltip player_id='1456836' first='Terrance' last='Wood'], 6'6 PF Union Catholic 2024

[player_tooltip player_id='1406988' first='Zyaire' last='Price'], 6'5 F Arts 2024

[player_tooltip player_id='1550558' first='Lamar' last='Davis'], 6'0 PG Moorestown 2023
