Some are legitimately very good teams while others are undefeated as a function of their early season schedule. Let’s take a look at five of the Class 4A teams who have impressed us at Prep Hoops Indiana the most this season with their perfect starts.
Center Grove (5-0)
After I went to watch the Trojans practice before the season I was buying stock in this team. Coach Hahn was cautiously optimistic heading into the season as well feeling like he had a very good offensive group. Center Grove is now 5-0 and has turned a lot of people into believers. They’ve catapulted up to #10 in the Class 4A Prep Hoops Indiana poll as well. The Trojans will head up north this weekend to play in the Grace College Shootout and participate in the Kokomo Tournament over Christmas break. Indiana Wesleyan commit Marcus Ankney Marcus Ankney 6'3" | SG Center Grove | 2023 State IN and junior guard Joey Schmitz Joey Schmitz 6'2" | PG Center Grove | 2024 State IN have been the leaders for Center Grove’s perfect start to the season.
Homestead (4-0)
Replacing the Mr. Basketball runner-up is not an easy task to overcome. Fletcher Loyer is now starting as a freshman at Purdue, but Homestead seems to have not skipped a beat. They have climbed up to #11 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Super Poll after a perfect 4-0 start to the season. Despite the graduation of Loyer, it has been the Spartans backcourt that has stepped up this season. Junior guard Will Jamison Will Jamison 6'0" | PG Homestead | 2024 State IN is averaging 18 points per game while senior guard Kyron Kaopuiki Kyron Kaopuiki 6'3" | SG Homestead | 2023 State IN adds 17.3 points and 6 rebounds per game. Their most impressive win to date was a 56-39 beatdown against a good Warsaw team. Homestead will host their holiday classic on December 28th and 29th where they will host Munster, South Bend St. Joseph, and Hamilton Southeastern.
Marion (5-0)
Of all the undefeated teams we are covering, this one may be the most surprising. Despite losing their leading scorer to Fishers, the Giants have started 5-0 on the back of a well-balanced scoring attack. Four sophomores and a pair of seniors all average six or more points led by senior Jamerion Fouce at 13.7 points per game. 6’5″ sophomore Jaymen Townsend Jaymen Townsend 6'6" | SF Marion | 2025 State #248 Nation IN adds 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds per game and is a Top 10 prospect in Indiana’s very talented Class of 2025. Marion will have a tough test on Friday night when they travel to take on NCC rival Kokomo.
Noblesville (4-0)
Noblesville was a trendy preseason “sleeper” team in the Indianapolis area this year. A solid core of seniors, plus junior guard Aaron Fine Aaron Fine 6'3" | PG Noblesville | 2024 State IN , gave the Millers plenty of talent from a 13-11 team that knocked of Zionsville in the sectional last season before falling to Carmel. Expectations were reasonably high on the north side, but their 4-0 start has exceeded just about anyone’s predictions. Defeating Fishers and then Carmel in back-to-back games certified the Millers as for real and they are now ranked #5 in Class 4A by Prep Hoops Indiana. Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN is having an excellent senior season for Noblesville and classmate Cooper Bean Cooper Bean 6'4" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN is the one who delivered the game winning shot against Carmel.
Northridge (5-0)
Northridge secured back-to-back wins over Culver Academy and Valparaiso on the first weekend of December which turned heads across the state. They Raiders are now 5-0 on the season and ranked #15 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Super Poll. Senior Nolan Bales Nolan Bales 6'0" | PG Northridge | 2023 IN and sophomore Mason Bales Mason Bales 6'1" | SG Northridge | 2025 State IN are both having good years in the backcourt while 6’8″ senior big man Alex Ellenson is coming off of a double-double in Northridge’s win over Angola. This group has a nice inside-outside balance. They will be put to the test when they come down for the Noblesville Tournament beginning on December 27th and play host Noblesville in the opening round.
