Our staff at Prep Hoops Indiana is in the gym nearly every night scouring for new prospects or to reevaluate old ones who may have made a leap. Here are six prospects between the junior and senior classes who have made major impressions early in the season.
The Homestead Spartans lost Mr. Basketball runner-up Fletcher Loyer to the Purdue Boilermakers but haven’t appeared to miss a beat to start the season. They are 2-0 with wins over Huntington North and Warsaw thanks to excellent play in the backcourt. Junior guard Will Jamison Will Jamison 6’0″ | PG Homestead | 2024 State IN has been the leader so far averaging 17.5 points and 3.5 assists per game in the pair of wins. Definitely a name to remember in the Class of 2024 that is bursting onto the scene in the first couple of weeks this season.
Morris has always put up good numbers at Argos, but now the senior is 5-11 from beyond the arc to start the season as it appears he is really expanding his game. His apparent improved shooting ability should make him even more attractive at the small college level. The 6’6″ versatile wing is averaging 18.3 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game for the 2-2 Dragons.
Highlights
The Panthers are off to a 4-0 start, ranked #3 in the Prep Hoops Indiana Poll, and appear to be a real force in Class 3A this season. A big reason for their strong start is the play of their senior guard Marcus Northern Marcus Northern 6’2″ | PG South Bend Washington | 2023 State IN . Northern is averaging 22.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.8 steals per game while shooting 13-23 from beyond the arc. His early success from three-point range should calm any concerns about his perimeter shooting ability. Any small college program in need of a two-way guard should be looking at this South Bend product.
Back-to-back 21 and 33 point performances certainly is a good way to catch some attention to start the season. That is what Jaxon Pardon Jaxon Pardon 6’4″ | SG Fort Wayne Carroll | 2024 State IN has done while leading Carroll (Fort Wayne) to a 2-0 record already matching their win total from last year. The smooth left-handed shooter is one of the best pure scorers in Indiana’s Class of 2024 will continue to attract a lot of college attention across all levels.
One of the best pure shooters remaining on the board in the Class of 2023, Sandman has helped lead Shelbyville to a 2-1 start including an impressive victory over Connersville. The talented scoring guard is averaging 21.3 points per game through three contests and shooting an impressive 13-31 from beyond the arc. Sandman is a highly sought after recruit for in-state small college programs.
The Tipton Blue Devils have a 4-0 record and will be knocking on the door of joining a loaded Class 2A Top 10 when the new polls are released on Monday. A big reason for their early season success has been outstanding guard play from junior Nolan Swan Nolan Swan 5’10” | PG Tipton | 2024 State IN . The talented playmaker is averaging an impressive 20.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.5 steals per game. One of the better under-the-radar point guard prospects in Indiana’s 2024 class.
