During the Hoophall West weekend I ran over to Notre Dame Prep in Scottsdale, AZ as they took on the Desert Mountain Wolves. Both teams were undefeated before the game started, so it set up to be a great game.

The Wolves ended up winning 78-74. The Saints fought back but fell short behind strong play from the House twins.

Here were the Standouts from the 5A game:

[player_tooltip player_id='1150824' first='Kaden' last='House'] Desert Mountain (Pictured)

A bigger sized lead guard gets to most spots he wants on the floor. He has great defensive instincts to steal or block shots and is an outstanding rebounder for a guard. He plays the game with an elite motor for his class. He drives down the lane with euro steps and takes long strides and gets to the rim very quickly with grace. He can suck in a defense and throw a dime to his teammates. Not many are playing better to start the season then Kaden regardless of class in the AIA.

[player_tooltip player_id='1150823' first='Kalek' last='House'] Desert Mountain

A bigger guard plays more like a pure point guard and will often drive and kick it to a teammates shooting pocket. He can get hot from deep with multiple triples and he actually made some clutch shots in the 4th quarter to keep their lead in a close game. His on-ball defense, shooting and passing are obvious traits he brings to the game. The House duo are a fun watch in the AIA.

[player_tooltip player_id='1694946' first='Tony' last='Cumberland'] Desert Mountain

A strong football player just came back from the gridiron and has made an immediate impact. He can bully his way into the paint and score on layups. He has good hands and catches some tough passes in traffic. He rebounds the ball in bunches and moves his weight around. Cumberland is just what the Dr. has ordered for the Wolves to be successful.

[player_tooltip player_id='996764' first='Brennan' last='Peterson'] Notre Dame Prep

A scoring point guard with a clip. He can catch and shoot from the three with a quick release. He will rattle them off quickly and sees the court well. He is very quick to get into the lane and will drop the dime. Outside of his shooting, what stands out is how quick he is with the ball in his hands to blur passed his defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1123040' first='Anthony' last='Batson Jr'] Notre Dame Prep

A long, two-way athletic wing. He is a quick second jumper who leaps up so quickly to rebound, block or score. He finishes way above the rim on the break and is definitely capable from the 3pt line. He is very good on defense with collecting steals and helping on the weak side to block shots high above the box. He also is a good passer and has an unselfish nature.

[player_tooltip player_id='996176' first='Bryce' last='Quinet'] Notre Dame Prep

A high IQ point guard is a good passer and shooter. He changes speeds well and uses his girth and body to get downhill. He has a pure shooting stroke from mid to the three point line and will rebound quite well for his position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1323296' first='Matt' last='Delgado'] Notre Dame Prep

A long wing made an impact off the bench. He showed he can be a three level scorer and defend multiple positions. He can rip through and get to hoop, he has the runner and can hit the catch three or from mid-range.

[player_tooltip player_id='1694989' first='Brody' last='Postorino'] Notre Dame Prep

The freshman combo guard had a solid game. He cashed in with some perimeter jumpers. He can catch and shoot from the three with a quick release. He plays a smart floor game and plays within the offense and won't force any bad shots.
