We were really excited to get a new look at Solebo as we hadn’t seen him since July. Came away very impressed with his all-around game. The lefty seemed to have slimmed down some and iT showed in his pop off the bounce slicing through the defense. Took it coast to coast in transition with a head of steam behind him. Was a bit streaky shooting but he did hit a three ball on a step back. The biggest growth we saw in his game was his improved passing. Made live ball dishes over and over throughout their win hitting shooters, cutters, and posts on the money. He had 15 points. Mid-major prospect.

Thomas gets better each and every time we see him. Look for him to make a massive debut after a huge fall and start to the high school season. The 6’6” combo forward plays with a ton of energy flying around on the offensive glass for put backs, gets to the line at a high rate, and finishes in the paint. Can handle it from 15-feet in and is a versatile defender. Went for 19 points.

One of the top uncommitted seniors in the state brings a ton of versatility to the table on both ends. He scored 15 points, but impacts the game in so many ways. He is a streaky shooter, but hit a pair early on from distance. Moves well off the ball, passes finding shooters and cutters, along with being an excellent defender. Got loose for a couple transition buckets as well. Low-majors should be involved.

Baldwin had a monster showing on Saturday morning. The 6’6” combo forward looks the part with a strong build and great mobility. He was comfortable playing both on the perimeter and interior. Good looking shot that he let fly with confidence from three. Can put it on the deck finishing with either hand. Had a reverse layup, floater, and euro step off the bounce. Dropped 22 points and 10 rebounds. Going to fly up the board in our next update!

Ciaravino is another jumbo forward that can play the three or four. Skilled wing that got off to a slow shooting start, but hit from beyond the college arc as the game went on. His athleticism and transition scoring stood out as did his ability to win on straight line takes with his long strides. Defensively he can check multiple spots and was a good rim protector while recording 26 points.

The Denver commit had 20 points in his team’s win over North Lawndale. His jumper was flowing hitting them from both mid-range and three along with mixing in some creative handles getting in the lane for scores. Big time leader and competitor!

Ray was maybe the biggest surprise of the event. He is a ranked prospect so not completely off the radar, but on a big stage against D1 guards from the DMV he posted 22 points getting whatever he wanted particularly in the first half. Got to the rim for acrobatic conversions, made trips to the foul line, and hit a couple threes. Also showed he could play some on the ball.

Johnson is the highest ranked unsigned senior prospect in the state. Long and lanky small forward has been known as a three and D guy throughout his career. Liked what we saw as far as growth in other areas. Rebounded very well especially on the offensive glass, ran the floor hard, and knocked in some pull up twos. Did a nice job defensively getting several steals and blocks along with 15 points.

The Princeton commit didn’t shoot it his best, but when it mattered most he made the key play on a tip in at the buzzer for the win. He is a floor general that makes those around him better with his passing which he did in this contest while scoring 10 points.

(Simeon – 2023)
The Northern Iowa commit made a statement with his spot up shooting against St. Rita as he rained them in one after another. The skilled big man dropped in four triples as part of his 21 points. Going to be a great fit in the Missouri Valley Conference as a multi skilled big man that can pass, shoot, and rebound.

Griffith was excellent setting up others in their win early as he had it zipping all-around the floor for dimes off live dribbles. Makes sound decisions in the half court and pushes with speed. More than just a distributor he made four from distance as part of his 24 point outing. Low-majors should give him strong consideration.

Johnson made a strong case for the #1 spot in the 2024 rankings against Simeon. Despite his team losing Johnson was very good. The Illini commit always brings the energy and Saturday was no different. He dominated on the glass snatching them in traffic, hit mid-range jumpers, and got to the foul line for 16 points and 11 rebounds.

Robins changed the last game of the night with his presence inside. Super bouncy junior four man was a force on the glass like usual, played above the rim on dunks, swatted shots defensively including a two handed volleyball pin, and most impressively hit three mid-range jumpers in a 21 point performance.

Kansas State commit had foul troubled that hampered his numbers, but when he was in the game and looking to score Ames did just that. Slick handling guard that has speed downhill slicing in between defenders or going baseline where he finishes very well. Speed to burn in transition. All of his 12 points came at the rim.

Michigan State commit is a high IQ guard that controls the game with his passing and leadership. Put others in position to succeed with his passing and mastery of the offense. Pushed in the open floor and got to the rim a couple times for finishes including a sick and-1 reverse layup. Netted 16 points in the loss.

Fears was spectacular at times for Joliet West. The sophomore has burst with the ball, athleticism finishing in the open floor, and a clean looking jumper from mid-range as well as three. Did have a couple of key turnovers, but a lot to like in the 17 point outing.
