The Garden State basketball season is finally here as teams across the state are looking forward to start the season on a high note. Some prospects had huge opening nights as they put the state on notice. Here are some of the big games from the opening day of NJSIAA basketball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1050398' first='Nick' last='Seeloch'], 5'10 PG Holmdel 2024

Seeloch had a monster opening night as he dropped a career high 36 points in the opening game against St. John Vianney. The 5'10 guard was getting to his spot on the floor and rose up nicely on his jumper. Seeloch took big free throws down the stretch for the Hornets and was unafraid of taking big shots in critical moments. He was effective in the running the offense and showed the ability to play off the ball. Seeloch's big opening day was big for his stock as he helped Holmdel open the season 1-0.

[player_tooltip player_id='1359626' first='Collin' last='Teter'], 6'3 SG Red Bank Regional 2023

Teter was a marksman for the Buccaneers as he poured in 34 points on eight triples against Long Branch. The 6'3 guard has a good release on his jumper and let it fly with confidence from distance. Teter set his feet before every shot and moved well without the ball in his hands. He finished nicely around the basket and made smart decisions with the ball in his hands. Teter exploded in the opening game of the season and is looking to carry over the momentum for the rest of the season.

Mario Castro, 6'0 PG Gill St. Bernard's 2023

Castro had a huge debut game for the Knights as he dropped 34 points and dished out three assists. The 6'0 guard was feeling it from distance as he hit six three-pointers and shot the ball with confidence from deep. Castro did more than just shoot as he also was able to get to the rim and finish. He forced deflections on the defensive end and involved his teammates in the half court. Castro's big game was needed as Gill St. Bernard's has a lot of production to replace from last year's squad.

[player_tooltip player_id='1206544' first='Kevin' last='Burns'], 6'0 PG Point Pleasant Beach 2023

Burns opened his senior campaign off with a bang as recorded a triple-double, the third of his career. The 6'0 guard got his teammates involved in the half court and the ball rarely stuck in his hands throughout the game. Burns attacked the basket with a purpose and was able to finish through contact. He ripped down rebounds at both ends of the floor and moved his feet on the defensive end. Burns should continue to put up big numbers for Point Pleasant Beach as the Garnet Gulls look to make a deep run in the postseason.

[player_tooltip player_id='902756' first='Jadin' last='Collins'], 6'1 PG Rutgers Prep 2023

Collins recorded his first triple-double of his high school career against Franklin as the Argonauts look to repeat as sectional champions. The Marist commit was at his best attacking the basket as he blew by his defender off the bounce and finished nicely around the basket. Collins did more than just slash as he was able to get his teammates involved and played unselfish basketball. He pushed the pace in the open floor and was unafraid of going after rebounds against much bigger opponents. Collins will be running Rutgers Prep's offense again this season as he looks to take the Argonauts back to the Non-Public A South title game.
