It is the first Saturday night of the Indiana High School Basketball season. There are plenty of good matchups around the state this evening including a high profile Top 5 matchup in the Indianapolis area. Also, an excellent Class 1A tournament tipped off at 10:00 down at Loogootee featuring the host Lions, Evansville Day, Liberty Christian, and Evansville Christian. Let's dive on in to the five best matchups of the night.

Ben Davis (1-0) @ Zionsville (0-1)

These teams have had contrasting starts to their season. The Giants were dominant in a win over Fishers on Tuesday night asserting themselves as a real contender at the top of Class 4A alongside Cathedral. Meanwhile, Zionsville fell in a low-scoring affair against Carmel. 6'9" Valparaiso signee [player_tooltip player_id='1042497' first='Zane' last='Doughty'] will have another battle down low in this one going against Charlotte signee [player_tooltip player_id='868244' first='Nick' last='Richart'] of Zionsville. In the backcourt, the Eagles feature Penn State bound [player_tooltip player_id='868255' first='Logan' last='Imes'] while Ben Davis has a host of talent including [player_tooltip player_id='1273713' first='Sheridan' last='Sharp'], [player_tooltip player_id='1158204' first='K.J.' last='Windham'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1160716' first='Clay' last='Butler'].

Brownstown Central @ Providence

We don't have to wait long to get an early preview of two Sectional 46 favorites. These also just might be the two best teams in a loaded Class 2A as well. Providence is the returning state champions while Brownstown Central moves down after winning a 3A sectional last year. Purdue commit [player_tooltip player_id='1158245' first='Jack' last='Benter'] is the headliner here for the Braves while the Pioneers feature senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1273735' first='Casey' last='Kaelin'], [player_tooltip player_id='1578457' first='Quentin' last='Hesse'], and [player_tooltip player_id='1287890' first='Noah' last='Lovan']. This is an excellent early season matchup between two teams with legitimate state championship aspirations.

Concordia Lutheran (1-0) @ NorthWood (1-0)

These two Class 3A programs are loaded with talent. Juniors [player_tooltip player_id='1158179' first='Ajani' last='Washington'] and [player_tooltip player_id='1158230' first='Cole' last='Hayworth'] led the Cadets to a season-opening victory over Leo. Recent Huntington commit [player_tooltip player_id='1226596' first='Cade' last='Brenner'] is the star for NorthWood, but the Panthers also feature senior [player_tooltip player_id='1391324' first='Ian' last='Raasch'] alongside his sophomore brother [player_tooltip player_id='1297122' first='Tyler' last='Raasch']. This will serve as an early measuring stick for just how ready Concordia Lutheran is to keep against the best as they take on preseason #1 ranked NorthWood.

Kokomo @ Westfield

This will be a regional rematch from last season featuring Top 10 ranked Kokomo and a Westfield out to prove that they still belong in that conversation despite losing two Division I guards including the Indiana Mr. Basketball award winner. The obvious draw to this game will be the junior season debut of 6'9" 5-star center [player_tooltip player_id='1363488' first='Flory' last='Bidunga'] for the Wildkats. However, senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1410467' first='Alex' last='Romack'] is coming off of an outstanding summer and should take over the go-to role for the Rocks this year. This will be both teams first action this season as Kokomo had to move their season-opener due to the success of their football program.

Lawrence North @ Crispus Attucks

A handful of the states best sophomore will suit up in this one. Lawrence North features dynamic guard [player_tooltip player_id='1296979' first='Azavier' last='Robinson'] who is a Top 5 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to Prep Hoops Indiana. However, the Wildcats suffered a major blow when 6'10" Division I prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1272428' first='David' last='Meriwether'] was ruled ineligible for the season after transferring from Indianapolis Metropolitan. The absence of Meriwether should led to a big game for 6'8" sophomore big man [player_tooltip player_id='1297019' first='Dezmon' last='Briscoe'] for Crispus Attucks. Briscoe also has the benefit of a talented backcourt featuring sophomore point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1297004' first='Chris' last='Hurt'] and junior guard [player_tooltip player_id='1275771' first='Ron' last='Rutland III'].
