SubscribeThe Senior class is about to kick off their final season of high school basketball and many of the best prospects will be signing their letters of intent to their college of choice next month. The class has seen a lot of talent defect from it over the last 9 months or so but it’s still one of the best Kentucky has seen in a while. Here’s a look at the top small forwards in our updated Senior rankings. This does not include any players ranked in the top 10 in the class.
Rylee is likely to be the top scorer in the mountains this season and has Pikeville primed for a returip to Rupp Arena for the Sweet 16. Samons has already made his commitment to Tennessee Tech and the big wing shooter is a steal for that level.
One of the more under-recruited players in the class, Davis holds an offer from Eastern Kentucky and could end up committing there any time now. Jaylen is long and athletic and is a really good shooter at over 40% from three. He is dangerous off the bounce and plays with the game with a certain swagger to him.
Davidson has been the beneficiary of some recent offers at the NAIA level and has the skill set and build to be an impact player at that level as early as his freshman season in college. Look for Ryan to be the pivotal piece for North Laurel in their pursuit of a state title in his Senior season.
A big wing who has been under the radar until the last year or so, Chappelle has recently earned multiple offers and is the type of athlete who goes to the Juco level for a season or two and ends up finishing his career at the mid major D1 level. Regardless of his college destination, Whitney should be a big part of the Dragons offense this season.
Dylan has had one of the best statistical careers of anyone in the 2023 class but isn’t a widely known name outside of his area. Hammonds is going to end up with about 3,000 points and 2,000 rebounds by his final game. At 6’5, he also has great size and should be on the radar for D2 and NAIA schools looking for a steal.
