The upcoming basketball season is right around the corner with tryouts happening in two weeks. The fall AAU season just ended, and the 2022 Spookfest Showdown at Hoop Group Headquarters had a number of players standout. Here are the 2022 Spookfest Showdown standouts.

[player_tooltip player_id='1213572' first='Ben' last='Kipnis'], 6'2 SG Holmdel 2024

Kipnis made plays for the Jersey Shore Predators 2024 team as he was able to get to his spot on the floor throughout the game. The 6'2 guard shot the ball with confidence from behind the arc and was unafraid of letting it fly in transition. Kipnis did more than just shoot as he put the ball on the floor and finished around the basket. He made good passes during the day and got deflections on the defensive end. Kipnis is a sharpshooter from distance, but his ability to also put it on the floor and finish will help his stock in a big way.

[player_tooltip player_id='1411627' first='Jamir' last='McNeil'], 6'0 PG Middle Township 2025

McNeil made plays for the SJ Panthers throughout the day as he helped them win the Varsity bracket. The 6'0 guard attacked the basket with a purpose as opponents could not keep him out of the lane and finished nicely around the basket. McNeil set his teammates up nicely in the half court and pushed the pace in the open floor. He used his length to create disruptions on the defensive end and rebounded well during the day. McNeil is a lanky, two-way guard prospect whose ability to run the offense will be key for Middle Township in 2022-23.

[player_tooltip player_id='1206532' first='Dylan' last='Csik'], 5'10 PG Middletown South 2023

Csik made plays for the Jersey Shore Predators 2023 team as he got the offense started for them early. The 5'10 guard used his handle effectively as he got into the lane consistently and finished nicely around the basket. Csik has a nice touch on his jumper and knocked down open jumpers from behind the arc. He rarely made bad decisions with the ball in his hands and slid his feet on the defensive end. Csik is a hard-working guard prospect who will be one to watch in the Shore Conference this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1407257' first='Mike' last='Nitto'], 6'3 SG Manasquan 2024

Nitto had a solid day for the Shore Shots as he led the team in scoring on Championship Sunday. The 6'3 guard was knocking down shots from distance as he set his feet before his shots and had a lightning quick release on his jumper. Nitto moved well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself up for open jumpers on the perimeter. He worked hard on the defensive end and did a good job on the boards. Nitto's ability to knock down jumpers from behind the arc is something that will help his game this season.

Riyal Basquin, 6'6 F Middle Township 2024

Basquin made plays all over the floor for the SJ Panthers and was one of the top standouts at the event. The 6'6 forward exploded off the floor for dunks and was unafraid of drawing contact in the paint. Basquin showed off a decent handle as he was able to bring the ball up the floor in transition and ran the floor hard to create chances for himself. He skied for rebounds on both ends of the floor and used his athleticism to alter shots on the defensive end. Basquin will be one to watch in South Jersey this season with his combination of size, skill and athleticism.
