Below is the fifteenth installment in our Transfer Watch 2022 series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that a Philly Public League standout is changing schools and two area powerhouse programs have brought in additional talent.
Jackson Gaffney – 6’5″ / Senior / Radnor / Team Final Black / Shooting Guard: The former St. Joseph’s Prep standout averaged 8 ppg. in 2021-22 and posted as season high 25 points vs. West Catholic. Gaffney is an athletic and smooth prospect who excels on the fast break. He can go coast to coast for a hoop or fill a lane for a transition three. Gaffney owns a solid vertical and is a quick leaper, so his ability to flush on defenders in traffic catches everyone by surprise. In the half court, Gaffney can knock home triples and slash to the rim.
Bryan Saleh – 6’8″ / Junior / Phelps School / Boys 2 Men / Power Forward: Saleh is a polished inside/outside threat who will bring offensive versatility to the Phelps lineup. His skill set is extremely well rounded. Plus, Saleh owns a high basketball IQ. In addition to scoring the ball from all over the floor, Saleh is a tenacious rebounder. Most recently Saleh played club basketball for Sagesse Al Hekmeh Beirut of the Lebanese Division A league. He is also a member of Lebanon’s national team.
Gabe Tanner – 6’4″ / Sophomore / Perkiomen School / NEPA Elite / Wing: Last year at Mid Valley high school Tanner averaged 14 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists per game. Thus, this athletic and quick wing prospect was named the Lackawanna League Division 3 POY. Tanner has a reputation as a high percentage 3-point threat, but make no mistake, he is a true three level scorer. Tanner is extremely smooth off the dribble and can create opportunities for himself or teammates. He also has a bit of a slasher touch to his game. So, he can cut to the rim, catch a pass in traffic and then finish with authority. In addition to transferring to the Perkiomen School, Tanner will reclass into 2025 graduate year.
Naseem Wright – 6’4″ / Junior / Math, Civics and Sciences / BW Elite / Wing: In 2021-22 Wright (pic above) was a key part of the Abraham Lincoln squad that advanced to the Philly Public League championship game. Wright is an extremely athletic and bouncy prospect who can get out on the break. He is active around rim and will finish with authority. With his ability to play through contact, Wright can also score off the dribble from the high post. On defense, Wright is a developing shot blocker.
