The Prep Hoops North Carolina Top 250 Expo was loaded with talent. Prospects were given the opportunity to showcase their ability to shoot the three-ball, facilitate, defend, handle the rock, dunk, and hit the boards, and they were very impressive in doing so. While those things were great to see, I looked beyond them to see if I could find some prospects that influenced and changed the game through their play in some of those areas as well as others. Here are a few of the players that emerged as Prep Hoops North Carolina Top 250 Expo GameChangers…
Viktor brought energy to each and every game throughout the event. He showed off a slick handle that allowed him to get to the basket and score in a variety of ways. He also created for teammates on numerous occasions. He displayed a smooth jump shot with range out to the three-point line. Viktor was not only a terror offensively but also managed to be a defensive catalyst for his team. He used his length and quickness to cut off drives and he used his quick hands and anticipation to make create steals both on and off the ball. He was very explosive and used his athleticism to grab rebounds and his speed to take those rebounds coast to coast for layups.
Marcel impacted the game in many areas during the entirety of the Prep Hoops North Carolina Top 250. He plays the game with unlimited energy. Offensively he showed good jump-shot mechanics that allowed him on numerous occasions to knock down threes off the catch. He also showed off his ability to grab a rebound and take it the length of the court to create for himself and for others. Defensively, he showed good defensive instincts. He showed quick feet and hands which resulted in steals and tons of deflected passes.
Nathaniel is a high-motor big who consistently brought energy on the court. Nathaniel was an absolute force on the interior. He was routinely grabbing offensive and defensive rebounds for his team. He showed good awareness on offense in the pick-and-roll game. He demanded the ball when he had smaller players on him and when he got the ball he finished well around the basket.
Camden had his smooth game on display for the entirety of Prep Hoops North Carolina Top 250. Offensively. Offensively, he displayed a High basketball IQ both in half and full court. In the half-court, he moved well without the ball. He displayed a smooth and effortless jump shot with range beyond the three-point line. In transition, he pushed the ball up using the hit ahead pass and if he was not slowed down in transition, he would routinely finish at the rim or create for teammates. Defensively, displayed active hands and a good understanding of where to be defensively.
With the ball in his hands, Roy was electric. Displayed an excellent handle and he used that handle to touch the paint at will. When he touched the paint he was able to finish in traffic using various finishes. He also played under control and on numerous occasions was seen playing off 2 feet in the paint and creating for others. He displayed a consistent jump shot that he shot with confidence out to the three-point line.
High energy guard. He has a good handle and a high basketball IQ. On multiple occasions, witnessed Jake moved well off the ball and made several well-timed cuts, and finish around the basket. His movement off the ball also helped free him for wide-open jump shots He had good jump shot mechanics and hit multiple threes in each game. Jake ran the floor well in transition. Defensively, worked hard and rebound well.
