Then, there will be a quick turnaround with just a couple of weeks of real practice before games begin right before Thanksgiving. Regardless of what is happening around the state, we at Prep Hoops Indiana always find a way to deliver daily content. In basketball-crazed state like Indiana that is what the fans, and players, deserve. Today, we will be taking a look deeper into the Class of 2023 at five prospects who are flying under-the-radar heading into their senior season.
A long, lanky forward with impressive defensive and rebounding skills, Alexander continues to pick up a little more college interest. At 6’6″ with his long arms he has the physical tools to be an interior presence at the small college level. Offensively he can face up and drive it one or two dribbles at bigger defenders, finish up above the rim, and has good offensive rebounding instincts. Definitely he protects the rim and is switchable out on the perimeter. Holds offers from Manchester, Defiance, Albion, and Trine.
Highlights
Barron is a strong, athletic wing that led Connersville in scoring as a junior and will be a big reason why they should begin this year as a Top 10 team in Class 3A. At 6’4″, Barron has the size to finish consistently around the rim while also possessing the ball handling ability to attack closeouts and get to the basket. His three-point shot continues to improve as well and should be a legitimate weapon this season. Barron has visited Hanover College and Rose-Hulman and holds offers from both schools. Interested in engineering.
This super athletic guard can create for himself off of the dribble and has the tools to be a very pesky on-ball defender at the next level. Cunningham has a tight handle with excellent straight line speed that he uses to push the pace in transition. In the half court, he plays well off of a ballscreen and makes sound decisions. He uses his length and quickness to be disruptive in the passing lanes defensively as well. Holds on offer from Alma. In-state Division III’s should be evaluating if they aren’t already.
Highlights
Kline is a 6’6″ post player with an intriguing upside. He has polished back to the basket post moves, can score it over either shoulder, and can face-up for a 12-15 foot jumper as well. Over the summer he had a lot of success scoring the ball around the basket for Summit City Elite and showed his ability to rebound his area effectively. Look for Kline to have a solid senior season for East Noble. Currently holds an offer from Albion. Division III’s that need some size should consider him.
Oliver will be in a position to score a ton of points this season for Silver Creek. The 6’1″ guard is a very good shooter off of the bounce having shown the ability to make shots coming off of a ballscreen and from well beyond the three-point arc. He can play either guard spot in the backcourt with his mixture of shot-making and ball handling skills. Haven’t heard much about his recruitment to this point, but he is a guy that Division III programs should be aware of.
