Continue ReadingFirst look at the Durango Freshman. He played limited minutes, however his length is obvious. Raw player in developmental stage, but he had a finish around the hoop, and looked comfortable shooting the ball.
The more I see of Roston the more I like him. Has a knack for finishing. He was good in transition, and did a good job using advanced, 1-2’s and Euro’s to avoid defenders, keep his eye on the rim and finish.
Chapman is going to make my all something team in the Pre-Season. He’s just to productive. He does a terrific job of manufacturing buckets off putbacks and dribble drives. He’ll serve as another weapon for a talented Rattlers team.
Sherrard is just solid. He’s looking like a canidate for one of the state’s best shooters. He knocked down a few threes, showing why he’s one of the top high academic shooting prospects available in the class.
He played limited minutes, however he stood out to me becasue of his fundamentals. Lefty added value to his team by simply performing things like fundamental screens, and blockouts.
First look at Lorenzo, and I was impressed with his mentality, energy and effort. Tough guard, that defended on ball, Lorenzo also showed some shooting skill, knocking down multiple threes during the game.
Watching DeGourville play reminds me of when I first saw him during middle school. He looked like a man amongst boys. He may be the most underatted passer on the West Coast.
Highlights
Like what I saw from Johnson, as he’s a player that put himself on the rankings radar. He has some shiftyness, and showed decent explosion getting off the ground and competing for rebounds.
ID looked like one of the more improved players in the gym. Loved his ability to get downhill, and get to the hole, and his ability to finish through contact was huge. Played with good body control and showed some nice finishing moves when attacking downhill.
Every time I turned around he seemed to be making plays. The scrappy guard played with good ball speed, and showed some mid range ability.
Whatch out for Rodriguez this season, last year on a team full of dogs, he was a facilator, and game manager. If yesterday was any indication, he could end up being an assasin. Showed a lot of wiggle in his game, and made both deep threes, and tough mid range shots. His ability to seperate create, and bury shots was something I didn’t even realize he had in his game.
