Daniel showed why he holds a multitude of different high-major offers this past Sunday. He started the game against Edina off hot from beyond the arc and never cooled down, finishing with 6 three-pointers made. The majority of these makes came off of the dribble as he does a fantastic job staying under control when using side-steps or stepbacks to separate himself from his defender. The 6’1” junior also threw down a handful of powerful dunks when he had the opportunity. Freitag is the full package and will be leaned on to score the ball a lot this season at Jefferson.

Cash makes the game look so easy when he has the ball in his hands. He is always playing under control and never looks sped up by his opponents. He was very effective knocking down shots from beyond the arc in both games I saw, connecting most of those off of the dribble. Everyone knows he is one of the most athletic players in the state as he was able to show off his high flying ability as well, throwing down some highlight reel dunks. Chavis’ all around game looks to be much improved from last season where he came off the bench for the last couple months of the season with Park Center. He will operate as the top ball handling and one of the top scoring options for the Pirates this year.

I was not very familiar with Josiah’s game going into this weekend, but he blew me away with his performance in the win over Jefferson. He could not be stopped attacking the rim, as he was getting whatever he wanted when he drove to the basket. He also connected with multiple shots from deep, taking advantage if defenders did not have a hand in his face at all times. Coleman is new to Edina this year as he transferred from Maranatha. He will be a top scoring threat for the Hornets in his senior season.
It has been a couple of months since I had last seen Chiang play and he really impressed me with his improved perimeter game. He showed that he could both handle the ball in the open floor, as well as knock down shots from the outside. The 6’8” center also altered and blocked a plethora of shots from opponents and snatched rebounds with ease all game. Ring is a key addition to this Park Center squad that was already in the running for another state championship run and makes the Pirates even more dynamic.
De’Mari made his Osseo debut this past weekend and picked up right where he left off at Minneapolis South. The 5’9” point guard plays the game very aggressively and with a lot of confidence. He was able to rise up over much larger opponents to grab some tough rebounds with the majority of them coming on the offensive end giving his team another possession. Larkins also attacked the rim very well and did a great job spreading the ball around to find open teammates. This Osseo roster looks much different from last season, but I still expect them to potentially be a top 10 team in class AAAA.
Randy continues to prove himself as one of the best shooters in the state and that was evident in his matchup with Osseo. He started the game off hot with a side-step deep three-pointer on the first possession of the game. He also attacked the rim under control with a couple instances where he blew by his defender on the right side of the basket then finished with a tough left handed layup getting to the opposite side. He will be the go-to scorer for an inexperienced Columbia Heights team this season as Jency Davis Jency Davis 5’9″ | PG Columbia Heights | 2024 State MN will be the only returning varsity player for the Hylanders.

Daniel is currently ranked as a top-15 prospect in Minnesota’s sophomore class and he proved why in Edina’s win over Jefferson. He stands at 6’7” and was much stronger than any player matching up with him. He used this to his advantage to back down opponents and grab rebounds with no problems. He was also effective in the pick & roll and positioning himself inside to receive passes from teammates for easy baskets. Molhoek can not just score inside though, as he showed off his range, knocking down a corner three-pointer in the first half. He impressed me with how fundamentally sound he plays and how smooth his game is. Daniel will definitely be a player to watch in the 2025 class.
