Max Wagner | Prep Hoops Scout
Jency put together another strong game to help lead Columbia Heights past Brooklyn Center. As a scorer he drained a handful of threes as he has the range to step out and hit shots from well beyond the arc. Despite scoring 22 points, he’s perhaps even better as a facilitator. If one of his teammates is open, Jency is likely going to find him. Against BC he was creating open looks by passing the ball ahead in transition, staying patient dribbling off screens, and also zipping in passes from the top of the key where he could see the whole floor.

Richfield was keeping just within striking distance for most of the second half, and then Jency flipped a switch and just took over. He was constantly beating his initial defender off the dribble, and as soon as help stepped up he already knew where the open man was going to be before hitting them with an accurate pass. Created countless good looks for his teammates, and made smart decisions out in transition leading to some easy lay-ups for his teammates. At 5’7 he’s such a crafty finisher around the rim as he converted on a handful of tough lay-ups to work his way to 18 points in a win.

Jency excels as a facilitator, but with two starters missing a lot of time in foul trouble he showed just how dominant he can be as a scorer as well. The junior guard is so quick with the ball in his hands, and was fearless attacking the rim and finishing against the Holy Angels size. He did a great job of using the rim to make it harder for defenders to block his shots as he was able to finish on reverse lay-ups. Showcased a smooth pull-up jumper with a very quick release from both mid-range and three. That quick release allows him to get off his shot with limited space, and that space was easy for him to create because of how quick he is. Still showed off his passing vision as well as he was quick to get into the lane and had some nice dump off passes to his forwards around the basket. Put up a game high 28 points in a win.

stuck out as a Freshman on a heavy Senior dominate Heights team. The 2024 five-foot-ten-inch point guard proved this in person at the Top 250 Expo in numerous ways. One, he scored twelve points by driving to the basket nearly at will and being alert to get out in transition for easy lay-ups, at least looked easy for him with his speed. Defensively he ripped opponents twice for steals and assisted twice on baskets for others while he hockey assisted a couple times as well.
