SubscribeThe Senior class is about to kick off their final season of high school basketball and many of the best prospects will be signing their letters of intent to their college of choice next month. The class has seen a lot of talent defect from it over the last 9 months or so but it’s still one of the best Kentucky has seen in a while. Here’s a look at the top stretch bigs in our updated Senior rankings. This does not include any players ranked in the top 10 in the class. This list also doesn’t include PFs who play primarily on the block.
Keith is not a traditional big but he plays like a 4 man and rebounds like a much bigger player than he is. Robinson has shown he can score the ball all over the court and is a tough cover for any 4 or 5 that tries to guard him. He’ll be a steal for whatever school lands his services on signing day.
Coming off a knee injury from the summer, Campbell should be back around Christmas time. Walter is an explosive athlete who plays with a tremendous motor and rebounds at a high level. Walter is built like an NFL tight end and knows how to use his body to finish over bigger defenders.
Hart is a proven playmaker who is comfortable operating as a distributor from the high post or farther out. Ian can score the ball and is a good shooter. He should be one of the best players in the first region this season and could make the difference in getting the Mustangs back to Rupp Arena.
I wrote about Eli and his stock trending upward more than once recently. He just recently got an offer from a D2 school and is definitely making a positive impression with coaches at all scholarship levels.
Ian has been a long term starter for North Oldham and is often overlooked when discussing top players in the 8th region. Higdon is a matchup problem for most players in the class as he’s 6’6 and able to score on the block or off the dribble. For North to get back to Rupp this season, Higdon will need to be a top player in the region. He can be a difference maker.
