Below is the thirteenth installment in our Transfer Watch 2022 series. In this edition of the Transfer Watch, you will notice that with the 2022-23 academic year now under way, we learned that two high level prospects have joined programs in the Keystone state and the former No. 1 ranked 2024 prospect in Pennsylvania has transferred again.
Ryan Archey – 6’0” / Post Grad / Rocktop Academy / New World / Point Guard: Archery s a hard-nosed and quick attacking style of point guard. His ability to change of directions enables him to get into the paint where he can finish through contact. Additionally, he does a fantastic job of using the bounce to draw a double team, and then move the ball to an open teammate. Archey’s jump shot has range well beyond the three-point line. He has a unique way of elevating on his jumpers which allows him to shoot over taller defenders. During the 2021-22 season Archey averaged 18 ppg. at Gwynn Park (MD).
Luke Brown – 6’7” / Junior / Salesianum (DE) / We R1 Select 17U / Small Forward: The physical and long Brown returns to Salesianum after a one-year stint at St. Joe’s Prep. In 2021-22 he started 4 games for SJP. He averaged 3 points along with 2 rebounds per game for the season. Brown does the bulk of his scoring on the interior via post ups and working the offensive glass. However, he can hit the occasional 3-ball and could develop into a potent stretch-4. Brown was outstanding back in June at Philly HS Live (Session I), as he displayed a more polished offensive skill set.
Macon Emory Macon Emory 6'7" | SF Perkiomen School | 2024 State PA – 6’8” / Junior / Perkiomen School / Team Loaded 434 / Wing: In addition to transferring to Perkiomen School, the wiry and athletic Emory will reclass into the 2024 graduate year. With his height and consistent shooting from behind the arc, Emory is tough to defend on the perimeter. Emory can use the dribble drive to get to the rim and finish over defenders too. This versatile wing was a key part of two Virginia state championships at the Blue Ridge School. He holds an offer from Radford. His brother (Houston Emory) plays college ball at the Univ. of Delaware.
Malachi Palmer – 6’5” / Junior / Mt. Zion Prep (MD) / Team PA & The Syndicate / Combo Guard: The Harrisburg native and former No. 1 ranked 2024 prospect in Pennsylvania is on the move again. Palmer started at Central Dauphin HS, then played for Hillcrest Prep in Arizona last season. Hillcrest ended the 2021-22 season ranked at #21 in ESPN’s final high school poll. Palmer is the complete offensive weapon and is one of the top 2024 “big guards” in the country. Hoop heads are still talking about Palmer’s 28 points, 5 assists and 5 rebounds performance at Nike EYBL Session 3 (KY). Palmer holds offers from twenty DI programs.
Kmari Smith Kmari Smith 6'2" | CG West Chester Henderson | 2024 PA – 6’2″ / Junior / WC Henderson / 610 City / Combo Guard: In 2021-22 Smith posted a breakout sophomore season. He averaged 7 points and 2.6 assist per game while helping Collegium Charter to the District 1-4A title. Smith scored 11 points in Collegium’s District 1-4A championship game win over Pope John Paul. He is a multitalented guard who scores in a variety of ways. Smith can slash to the cup, then finish with either hand. He also consistently uses the bounce to probe and pressure opposing defenses. Smith’s perimeter shooting must be respected as well. During the summer, this high IQ 2024 prospect tore up the AC Jam Fest (NJ) and his outstanding play at the WCU Summer League included an impressive 16-point effort vs. 5A title contender Radnor HS.
