Today, we’ll take a look at part three of the players transferring in or within of the state of VA and what they bring to their new team.
Isaiah Abraham Isaiah Abraham 6'7" | SG Paul VI | 2024 State #62 Nation VA | 6’5” WG 2024
Previous School: Highland School
New School: Paul VI
Abraham heads to PVI which on paper is absolutely stacked and looking like the favorite to win the WCAC and he’s a big addition who has solidified himself as one of the top young players in the state of VA. At 6’5” he already has prototypical size for the next level and is already getting recruited by high major schools, he’s a big time athlete who plays with a great motor on both ends of the floor and he has really improved in his ability to create and make shots from multiple levels on the floor.
Patrick Ngongba Jr. Patrick Ngongba Jr. 6'10" | C Paul VI | 2024 State #25 Nation VA | 6’10” C 2024
Previous School: Highland School
New School: Paul VI
Ngongba joins his cousin Abraham in their move to PVI from Highland School and he has shown a ton of improvement to the point where he’s getting recruited at the high major level already as well. At 6’10” he has a large frame and great hands and feet in the post to be able to bury defenders deep and finish over either shoulder, he has improved in his touch out to the three-point line and is able to knock down shots and stretch the defense and he’s an intimidating presence in the paint on both ends of the floor.
AJ Swinton AJ Swinton 6'6" | SF Bishop O'Connell (VA) | 2024 State #134 Nation VA | 6’7” WF 2024
Previous School: DeMatha (MD)
New School: Oak Hill Academy
Swinton comes to VA officially as he is one of the biggest transfers to Oak Hill this season coming from DeMatha, and after a big time summer he’s had he should make a lot of noise in the NIBC moving forward. The 6’7” wing has great size on the perimeter with the ability to put it on the deck and get to spots to make shots, he’s a big time athlete who can play above the rim and rebounds well for his position and he is a very good defender who can guard multiple positions as well.
My’Kel Jenkins My’Kel Jenkins 6'5" | SF Woodside | 2023 VA | 6’5” WF 2024
Previous School: Tarboro (NC)
New School: Woodside
Jenkins moves to Newport News from his original school in Southeast North Carolina and while the 6’5” wing was injured for much of the summer he showed early in his career he’ll be a big time prospect moving forward. He’s extremely versatile at his size as he can put it on the deck and get to spots and make tough shots over defenders, he can get downhill and finish above the rim and through contact and he can play on or off the ball to get open and get shots off.
Wesley Williams Wesley Williams 6'0" | CG Fairfax Christian | 2024 VA | 6’1” PG 2024
Previous School: Independence
New School: Fairfax Christian
Williams was a staple at Independence from the time that the school opened and he helped them become a very successful team in the NOVA public school area, but he decided to reclassify and move on to Faifax Christian where he’ll join an already stellar program that won a state championship last year. They need a new PG with last year’s star Ryan Blakey moving on to Hampden-Sydney and Williams brings a guy who can run the show and has great vision and feel, he can knock down shots from deep and in the midrange off the bounce and he makes great decisions and makes others better.
Jahleel Jackson | 6’1” PG 2024
Previous School: The Potomac School
New School: Hayfield
Jackson heads to the defending state champion Hayfield group who returns a good amount of players but needs some replenishing in the backcourt with much of their scoring and playmaking graduating. The former Potomac School guard is a two way impact guy who can guard the basketball well in the press, he is quick off the bounce and can get in the lane to make plays and he’s equally a threat to score it or make plays for others off the bounce.
