Penrod is a prospect who got on our radar at the Prep Hoops Grit Memorial Classic with impressive performances. Penrod is an undersized guard but the lefty showed the ability to score against top competition at that event. Penrod is a small school standout at the high school level and averaged 13 PPG as a Sophomore, I’d expect that number to drastically increase as a Junior.

Patton is an elite shooter who had some big games for the Mid Ohio Pumas Gold 16 U squad that had a lot of success. Patton has good form with a quick release and good footwork before he catches the ball. Patton is the first of two Westerville Central guards featured in this article as the Warhawks are going to be guard dominant in 2022-23 after Kent State commit Donovan Hunter Donovan Hunter 6’7″ | PF Spire | 2023 State OH transferred to Spire Academy for his senior season.
Biddell is a prospect who caught my eye at Midwest Live for a Mentor squad that was playing at a very high level. The lefty was productive in both games that I saw, scoring the ball efficiently and knowing how to attack from the wing guard position. Mentor has a lot of shooting and a decent amount of size heading into next season and will play exactly how legendary coach Bob Krizancic will want to play. Watch out for the Cardinals to make another deep playoff run in northeast Ohio.

The second Westerville Central guard featured, Martin is a tough defender who has the ability to beat defenders off the bounce as either the lead guard or off guard in an offense. Martin plays for his Dad during both the high school and grassroots seasons as their Nova Village 16 U squad was competitive on the UA Rise circuit. As a Sophomore, Martin averaged 7 PPG with a season high of 14 against rival Westerville South, I expect those numbers to increase and for there to be some intense battles between the three Westerville OCC schools.
