Top 250 Expo: Max’s Post Standouts

Now standing at 6'8, Jack has the tools to be a really good stretch four. He still has some of the mobility from when he was more of a guard/wing, so at 6'8 he's able to make plays floating on the perimeter for kickout threes, while also being able to take opposing forwards off the dribble to get to the rim. Ran the floor well and showed he has some quick bounce off the floor by picking up a pair of dunks. No shortage of confidence from three, and his release point makes it very difficult to block/contest his shot which allows him to get shots off even with some length defending him. He's still a bit raw offensively, but was possibly the best shot blocker I saw all weekend as he was constantly making an impact on the defensive end. Has good size at 6'7 and is quick on his feet to slide into good help-side position under the basket. He elevates very quick which allows him to stay on the ground until the offensive player elevates, meaning he'll rarely get caught off guard with a shot fake. He was dominant on the defensive glass, and after every rebound he was looking up the floor for any teammates sprinting ahead. Because of his vision and ability to launch deep outlet passes, his team was able to pick up a few wide open lay-ups each game. O'Neill also had a few nice passes from the top of the key, using his height to see over the top of the defense and hit one of his teammates cutting to the basket. When he catches on the block he doesn't shy away from contact and is relentless following up his own shot if he misses. Towards the end of the last game he was able to show off his athleticism in the open floor as he sprinted ahead and threw down an explosive dunk. He moves pretty well at his size, able to get up and down the floor well and move off the ball to help contest shots on defense. Showed he's not afraid to step out and shoot as he knocked down a three in the game I watched. He's good at scoring from the block due to his strong frame, but even if you push him out and force him to catch in the short corner he has a dangerous face up game. Able to face up and jab to create space, or just elevate and hit the jumper if his man doesn't keep a hand up. Offensively he did a nice job of moving off the ball, making quick cuts to put himself into good spots to catch and finish when one of his guards drove into the lane. Good hands to catch in traffic and has the coordination to catch and finish all in one motion. Defensively he's mobile enough to switch out and defend smaller players momentarily when needed, and he has the quickness to slide into position to contest shots around the basket. He's a hardworking forward with a strong frame at around 6'5 who plays even bigger than his size in the paint. In the game I watched he was hustling to beat his man up the floor every possession, and it resulted in some easy finishes at the rim. Boxes out after every shot and makes sure to secure the ball with two hands before finding an outlet.
