The leading scorer on a team that went undefeated against league competition last year, Scroggins is a pretty easy selection as the preseason POY in the South Division. An athletic and physical interior scorer and rim protector, he looks primed to have a huge senior year for the Bolts.
First Team
2023 Carson Scroggins Carson Scroggins 6'4" | PF Baxter | 2023 State IA (Baxter): 16.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.1 steals, 2.3 blocks, 46.8 FG%
Scroggins led the Bolts in scoring and blocks as a junior and was second in rebounding. He’s a physical presence in the paint with athleticism that he uses to change the game on both ends of the floor.
2024 Lucas Frohwein Lucas Frohwein 6'3" | SF Colo-Nesco | 2024 State IA (Colo-Nesco): 17.1 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.7 steals, 46.0 FG%
The leading returning scorer in the division, Frohwein was excellent as a sophomore for the Royals, leading the team in scoring and steals, while ranking second in rebounding and assists. He should have the ball in his hands more as a junior following the graduation of Kenny Cutler.
2023 Jace Huntrods (Collins-Maxwell): 12.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.5 steals
Jace had the upper hand on twin brother Luke in the scoring department, averaging 0.1 points a game more as a junior. He’s a capable perimeter shooter, but is best attacking the rim.
2023 Luke Huntrods (Collins-Maxwell): 12.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.7 steals
Despite being listed at just 5-9, Huntrods was really strong on the glass last season, pulling down 7.7 boards a game, including 2.7 on the offensive end. He’s a good athlete who isn’t afraid to get his nose dirty.
2023 Cody Damman (Baxter): 9.3 points, 4.6 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 2.5 steals
Damman didn’t have a huge scoring year for the Bolts, ranking fourth on the team in scoring, but his ability to stuff the stat sheet on both ends of the floor lands him a spot on the first team.
