Johnson was an excellent 2 way player at the Freshman Showcase. He was able to defend at a high level and was seen on a couple occasions swiping the ball away from some pretty good ball handlers.
Williams was a focused defender. He did a great job playing solid defense and patiently waiting for his opportunities. When he saw the ball out in front, Williams used quick hands and snagged the ball from his opponent.
Maben definitely drew some eyes with his defense. It was particularly the way that he could pressure the ball that got my attention. Maben turned this pressure into a steal at the event.

This young man played fast defense. He saw the ball, swiped up, and broke down the floor. There was never any hesitation. He could really develop into an excellent perimeter defender that creates turnovers for his team.
Matyus had a future as a lead defender. The young man had super quick feet and knew how to use them to position himself on the defensive end. This helped him put his man in a bad spot and pick up a steal.

Downs has the potential to be an elite defender as his high school career carries on. He’s strong and physical, allowing him to guard multiple positions and force the issue for the offense. I saw Downs outmuscle an opponent for a steal.
