Jaden Miller- Dawson High School (2023)
I was able to watch Jaden Miller run the offense in his team’s contest against Summer Creek High School on Sunday and he showed himself to be very effective in the backcourt, as well as having great offensive awareness. Jaden was able to get himself to the rim with ease and when the extra pass was needed, he was always able to find his open teammates for an easy assist. Miller also knocked down a few shots from the outside, showing extreme precision and ability to flow within the offense. He demonstrated expert lateral quickness on defense and was constantly able to pressure his matchup into a turnover or bad shot. Jaden will be a very effective guard this upcoming season and looking forward to him progressing!
Donovan Holcombe- Concordia Lutheran High School (2023)
Donovan was one of the more impressive big men in this tournament, asserting his dominance under the basket on both ends of the court. He was very physical in the post and always was able to come down with the rebound or swat away a shot at the rim. Donovan also showed ability to knock down shots at the free throw line and finish with precision over defenders with an easy layup or a dunk in traffic. Holcombe will fit in nicely on his Concordia team, playing a leadership-type role and being effective as a key role player in the starting lineup.
Bryce Mathews- Clements High School (2024)
Bryce was an impressive guard combo this weekend for Clements with teammate Divine Ugochukwu. Bryce was bringing the ball up the court and running a very effective transition offense, hitting shots in the open court, and driving to the rim, finishing on multiple and-1 attempts. Bryce was always willing to be unselfish with the basketball, dishing to multiple teammates to knock down open jumpers, while constantly being a source of movement off the ball as well. Look for Bryce to take a big jump in his game this season!
Eric James- CE King High School (2025)
Eric was quite the effective 6th man for his squad on Sunday, in a tough contest against Good Vision Academy. James showed his quickness on offense and ability to make tough shots, even with the defense closing out. He ran the point guard position with dominance and was able to keep his teammates involved the whole contest, while also being able to score the rock at will. He was adept at knocking down shots behind the three point line, but also being able to drive the ball to the basket and come away with 2 points almost every time. Eric will be looked at to help lead the offense this season for a very tough CE King team.
Nick Delgado- Klein Cain High School (2024)
Nick showed extreme marksmanship in his squad’s contest, knocking down almost all of his open jumpers from the field and also displaying extreme patience, waiting for the right opportunity to contribute in the offense. His length came in clutch on defense, notching a few steals and blocking some jumpers as well, forcing his matchup into tough decisions. Delgado will look to take things up a notch this season, as he plays an essential role in the Canes lineup.
