Jesse Fuller- Concordia Lutheran High School (2023)
Jesse was one of the main standout athletes on Sunday I was able to watch in both of his teams contests against Cypress Creek and Clements. Fuller displayed a tremendous accuracy from the midrange as well as using his athleticism to finish dunks in traffic and also glide over defenders. Jesse was also adept at making the extra pass to an open teammate and having very good defensive awareness under the rim as he would often rise up to block opposing shots and come down with the rebound. This was my first chance to watch Jesse Fuller and I was highly impressed!!
Divine Ugochukwu- Clements High School (2024)
Divine was easily a top 3 guard in this tournament on both days of the weekend, making it look too easy against his competition. In his game I watched on Sunday against Concordia Lutheran, he made 6 of 7 three pointers he shot and displayed outstanding marksmanship at the free throw line. His lateral quickness was too much for his matchup to overcome, notching 6 steals as well and being efficient on the fastbreak. Divine showed why he is easily considered probably one of the top 5 guards of the class of 2023 in Houston.
Corey Hadnot Corey Hadnot 6'3" | PG Cypress Creek | 2023 State TX II- Cypress Creek High School (2023)
Corey was impressive on Sunday in his squad’s game against a tough Concordia Lutheran team despite coming out with the loss. Hadnot showed that he had complete control of the offense and was willing to do whatever his team asked of him on both ends. He was aggressive on defense, always being physical with the defender and not being afraid to soar above the rim and send shots back. Corey also showed great effectiveness driving to the basket and finishing with contact while maintaining great precision and focus at the foul line. Corey was exciting to watch this tournament and will put on a show against other great guard matchups in the city this upcoming season!
Jaedon Webb- CE King High School (2023)
Webb showed himself to be a very dominant presence in the CE King game on Sunday afternoon against Good Vision Academy. Jaedon was adept at drawing fouls underneath the basket and driving in on opponents, finishing on almost every “and-1” shot he attempted. He also displayed a willingness to knock down open jumpers whenever the defense gave him space and was also never shy about making the extra swing pass to an open teammate. Jaedon proved to be a great team player for his Panthers squad and was an extremely critical piece in their win on Sunday. Webb will only continue to improve as the season progresses on!!
Emmanuel Sosa- Klein Cain High School (2023)
Sosa was one of the lead point guards for his Klein Cain Hurricanes team on Sunday against Angleton and was putting every move in his arsenal on display for the crowd in attendance. Manny showed great quickness and ballhandling every time he drove to the basket, either finishing with an easy layup or pulling up for a midrange jumper. He was also quite handy at using the pick and roll, either sliding off the screen and taking the shot, or dishing the ball to the receiver under the rim for an easy 2 points. Sosa displayed great patience the entire contest and never put his head down.
