He's a tall and lanky player who can pull up off the dribble, shoot a little from outside, and brings a dynamic combo of athleticism and size to the guard spot. There is a lot of potential for a player like him who can reliably handle the ball and distribute at his size. If he can improve on his scoring and continue to get stronger, the long guard has huge breakout potential as a small school sleeper.","_player_evaluations_0_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_1_player":["1416696"],"_player_evaluations_1_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_1_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_1_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"He's listed as a small forward but Nelson handled the ball a lot for Northwest last season and has the feel necessary to be a good distributor. He has a good blend of size, shooting, and decision-making that makes him a guy to watch at the 1A level. There's a lot of potential not only with Nelson, but with teammate [player_tooltip player_id='923115' first='Seth' last='Horn'] as well. If those two can work off of each other and turn the aggression up this season on both sides of the floor, Northwest could make a big leap.","_player_evaluations_1_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_2_player":["1178693"],"_player_evaluations_2_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_2_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_2_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"Snellman shifts over to run the show for Ferris this season. With only two returning varsity players, there will be a lot of room for Snellman to make an impact. He's a tough-nosed guard with a knack for finishing in traffic. He's a guy who can control the pace and really turn things up when he wants. It will be fun to see how he fits into the Greater Spokane League where there is plenty of talent.","_player_evaluations_2_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_3_player":["1560530"],"_player_evaluations_3_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_3_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_3_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"Petty moves over from the 3A runner-ups last season to the champions in Auburn. He'll take over point responsibilities and lead a new-look attack with plenty of options. He's a smaller guard but Petty has big burst in his game and can score in bunches. He creates space with his superb quickness and can cover a lot of space with just a few dribbles. He's definitely a player who can find shots at the end of the clock and should be a big factor in the NPSL.","_player_evaluations_3_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations_4_player":["1270841"],"_player_evaluations_4_player":"field_62ab9d62ecf2c","player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"","_player_evaluations_4_override_profile_image":"override-player-profile-image","player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"","_player_evaluations_4_not_in_database":"field_62aba48cecf2d","player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"He's a well-known name in the 1A world but Perez doesn't get a ton of recognition outside of that. He's a stout defender, reliable from behind the arc, and runs the show for a Toppenish team that went 23-4 last season. He exudes leadership with his steady play and has the presence of a player ready for any situation on the court.","_player_evaluations_4_evaluation":"field_62aba51aecf34","player_evaluations":5,"_player_evaluations":"field_62aba7547dc44"},"align":"","mode":"preview"} /-->

This group of guards have flashed the ability and attitude to make them potential breakout players in the 2022-23 season. A few are stepping into new situations and bigger roles while others are returning to lift their teams higher than the year before. Look for these names to have solid seasons and potentially breakout in their senior years.
