October 1st is right around the corner and that means the high school basketball season is almost here! While October will bring plenty of preseason preview content throughout the site, September is about the individuals after the summer has wrapped up. Earlier this month, we started our ranking updates with the 2025 class. We followed that up with the 2024 class. This week, we’re putting a spotlight on the 2023 rankings with the Top 75 seniors in the state. In case you missed it, you can check out the full rankings RIGHT HERE. In this post, we put a spotlight on some of the best scorers in the 2023 class. Now, this isn’t a definitive list featuring the TOP scorers in the state, but several have already been covered in several breakdowns this week and these are five more that can fill it up.
The first of two Clinton brothers that are currently ranked in the Prep Hoops rankings is 2023 guard Davieon Clinton Davieon Clinton 6’0″ | CG Riverfield Country Day | 2023 State OK . Younger brother Braeden Clinton Braeden Clinton 6’0″ | CG Riverfield Country Day | 2024 State OK is featured in the 2024 class. Davieon has to be considered one of the better small school scorers that return for this upcoming season. He helped lead Riverfield, a small school in west Tulsa to their first ever state tournament back in March. He averaged nearly 18 points per game, leading the team in scoring heading into the state tourney. Davieon is a very explosive guard that can get to his spots in the blink of an eye. He’s one of the quicker guards on this breakdown and he never plays out of control, although it might look like it at times. But he takes care of the ball and rarely costs his team with a mistake.
Holland Hall senior guard Jadon Cool Jadon Cool 6’3″ | CG Holland Hall | 2023 State OK is a big and physical guard that has become one of the top players at the high school level. Projecting what he is as a prospect at the next level has always been tough for the last twelve months. There’s no doubt that Cool belongs at that level as he showed he’s one of the top scorers in Class 4A. Not only is Cool just as dangerous as a shooter, his big frame and athleticism make him a problem to defend at the high school level. Cool had games last season where he could torch an opponent from beyond the arc, or put the ball on the floor and get to the basket at will. Averaging nearly 17 points per game last season, Cool and several key pieces returning for the Dutch make Holland Hall a serious contender to make another run in an absolutely loaded Class 4A.
If you’re looking for a 2023 prospect that is about to explode this winter in a big way, look no further than Edmond Santa Fe guard Jayden Cincotta Jayden Cincotta 6’1″ | SG Edmond Santa Fe | 2023 State OK . Going into the 6A state tournament last season, Cincotta was averaging a little over 10 points per game. It’s not crazy to think that he’ll get close to doubling that this winter. Or at least he has the ability to and it won’t be surprising to see him going off on any given night. That’s what we’ve seen from the Edmond Santa Fe guard over the last six months since the end of school ball. He’s been one of the top scorers in the ’23 class when it comes to travel ball and various team camps during the summer. He was an outstanding shooter last season and his game continues to evolve every time we get a chance to see him.
Highlights
Similar to Cincotta at Edmond Santa Fe, we also expect a rise in production this winter from Bishop McGuinness senior guard Price Bradley Price Bradley 6’2″ | CG Bishop McGuinness | 2023 State OK . The senior guard was part of an Irish team that made it back to the state tournament as he was the second leading scorer at nearly 15 points per game. With the leading scorer graduated, we expect Bradley to fill that role on the team this season. Bradley certainly has the ability to go off on any given night and could end up making 20-25 points look relatively easy. That’s what we got used to seeing throughout the spring and summer from him while playing travel ball. The expectations are high for Bradley and Bishop McGuinness heading into this season. The biggest challenge will be McGuinness dropping down to Class 4A. And as we mentioned, it’s absolutely loaded this year.
Putnam City North guard Zander Baker Zander Baker 5’10” | PG Norman | 2023 State OK is the smallest player on this breakdown but he’s one of the more dynamic scorers in the 2023 class. Baker enjoyed an outstanding junior season as he helped PC North throughout the year as the Panthers came up just shy of making it to the state tournament. Not only does Baker have so many aspects to his offensive game that should excite college coaches, there’s the other intangibles that are tough to measure. This guard produces at a high level almost every single night and it seemed like during his junior season, he played his best when the lights were their brightest. Baker is outstanding as simply a shooter on the perimeter but he’s much more than that. The Panthers are confident in Baker leading their offense this winter.
