Continue ReadingThe class of 2024 is easily the deepest class in the state, with potentially 15 D1 prospects, and that doesn’t include Pharaoh Compton who left for Compass Prep. IMO a player’s junior year in high school is the most important of his career. In this article, we take a look at some c/o 2024 players poised for a stockrising kind of year.
Khaman Maker Khaman Maker 7'1" | C Trinity | 2024 State #127 Nation NV 7’2 C Desert Valley Prep
AAU Team: Vegas Elite
Offers: Utah Tech, Hampton, Bethune Cookman
Stockrising prediction: People got a glimpse of Maker when he played with Vegas Elite on ESPN a few weeks back and the momentum from that game has started to carry over. The biggest issue with him is that very few people have gotten to see him because of DVP’s schedule in the past. This year DVP plays a much more aggressive schedule, including an appearance at Tarkanian during a viewing period for coaches. I predict that enough of them will be in the gym when he goes for one of those 10 rebounds, 10 blocks 3 dunk type of games, that will raise more than a few eyebrows.
DJ Thomas DJ Thomas 6'2" | PG Liberty | 2024 #19 Nation NV 6’1 PG Liberty
AAU Team: Dream Vision
Offers: Arizona, Florida, Gonzaga, Houston, LSU, Standford, UCLA, UNLV, Washington St, USC
Stockrising prediction: Thomas is the #1 ranked player in the class, however, his stockrising is coming from more of a national perspective. The PG spent the summer demonstrating why he is considered the top pure PG in his class. I thought before this summer it was simply a matter of opportunities to view him, now I think it’s simply a matter of him building on what he did last year. Thomas simply checks too many boxes to be ignored. He plays the most important position on the floor, he’s played well against top competition and he’s a winner. Expect for that offer list of his to continue growing.
Josiah Cunningham Josiah Cunningham 6'2" | SG Coronado | 2024 State #225 Nation NV 6’2 SG Coronado (featured image)
AAU Team: Vegas Elite
Offers: None
Stockrising prediction: For my money, Cunningham may be the most underrated player in the state. A lot of that has to do with the limited opportunities he’s received during the high school season and playing on a loaded AAU squad. When he does take the floor, however, he’s proving that he can more than hold his own against high-level competition. I see one of two things happening for Cunningham, either he impresses after being given the opportunity to receive major minutes in high school, or he has a breakout game playing for Vegas Elite. Either way, the junior guard is poised to have his stock rise.
RJ Nance RJ Nance 6'2" | SG Centennial | 2024 State #313 Nation NV 5’11 CG Centennial
AAU Team: Las Vegas Knicks
Offers: Pacific
Stockrising prediction: I truly believe Nance has the talent and ability to lead the state in scoring this year. The lefty is one of the most dynamic scorers in the state, complete with a wiggle, finishing, and shooting ability. The Bulldogs will have a new coach this year, so I’m not completely sure what type of offensive system they will run, however, it’s a good bet that Nance will be involved heavily in it. My prediction is that simply playing with the ball in his hands more will provide him the opportunity to increase his overall production.
Graydon Lemke Graydon Lemke 6'10" | PF Faith Lutheran | 2024 State NV 6’8 PF Faith Lutheran
AAU Team: West Coast Elite
Offers: None
Stockrising prediction: Lemke seems like the perfect player poised for a breakout season. After receiving minutes last year, he seems to have the necessary experience and battle-testedness to improve. My prediction is that his combination of size, and shooting is going to simply be too intriguing to ignore. Add in the addition of Point God Jace Aquiningoc Jace Aquiningoc 5'9" | PG Liberty | 2024 State NV , helping him get easy buckets, and Lemke is poised for a big year.
