These guys were really making noise with their production on the court, and most of these guys have division one talent written all over them. If they are in your area, trust me and get out and see them ASAP!
Todd Jones Todd Jones 6'8" | PF Newman | 2024 State #185 Nation LA 2024 6’8 Newman High School, LA (LOFDL EYBL E16)
Todd is a high level forward who can seemingly do it all on the court, using his strength and frame to bounce off of his opponents on his way to the rim. He has a great frame, allowing him to absorb contact on his way to the basket, or as he looks to back down his opponents underneath the rim. He is good at quickly attacking smaller defenders, and fighting through contact on his way to hammering dunks down. He has the ability to calmly explode vertically, and finish through contact or use his athleticism to rise up above an outstretched arm.
He is an aware player without the basketball, moving into open space where he can take a step and rise up. His awareness in attacking open space really stood out, he was good at waiting for his guards to attract his man as a help defender and sneak in behind them on the back side of the rim for an open look. Jones is a high level forward with all of the athletic tool to develop into a skilled forward at the next level, with his ability to take defenders off the bounce out of the mid-post or bang with anyone on the block. Jones has the frame and offensive awareness to become a high major Division One prospect.
Trey’Dez Green Trey’Dez Green 6'8" | PF Zachary | 2024 State #54 Nation LA 2024 6’8 East Feliciana High School, LA (LA Broncos 2024)
Trey’dez was probably the best prospect in attendance of the 16U division. He is an athletic freak standing at 6’8 with the ability to move like a guard and throw down dunks like a power forward. I was blown away by his agility on the court paired with his bounce and overall basketball IQ. He moves well and quickly explodes into space with his handle. He knows when to attack the defense in the mid-range or getting downhill when he has the big man out of position and knows no one who is going to step up against him has a chance to stop him. I was very impressed with his consistency with his back to the basket, and showed very consistent post moves and knows to go quickly to catch the defense off guard.
On the defensive side of the ball, Green has all of the tools to effectively defend positions 3-5 at the next level with his ability to move his feet and bump his opponents off their spots down low. He is an intense on ball defender who thrives at using his length to harass ball handlers, even when switching onto them for a short period of time. Green is a prospect that you need to remember the name and be sure to keep tabs on over the next two years! He is a five star football player, and is ranked #1 Tight End in Louisiana, as well as the #1 ranked forward in his class. There are very few specimen that have the tools to even attempt to play basketball and football at the division one level, and Green seems to be in that class. With his ferocity on the court, I know I would not want to see him coming across the middle!
Jordan Matthews Jordan Matthews 6'0" | PG Vandebilt Catholic | 2025 State LA 2024 6’5 Peabody Magnet High School, LA (CenLA Storm 2024)
Jordan is an a strong defender who can use his foot speed which he uses well to wreak havoc on both ends of the court. He is great at staying vertical and timing up his blocks to protect the rim for his team. He has all the tools to be an explosive forward at the next level with his nice blend of athleticism off the dribble and his ability to consistently dominate in the paint. He is so dominant down low, he finishes everything around the rim and consistently cleans up the class. He has a reliable jumper from the perimeter, which he uses to his full advantage to knock down shots off the catch and off the bounce. His consistency from the outside allows the paint to be even more wide open from the pressure that he can put on the defense from the outside. I was very impressed by his ability to truly do it all on both ends of the court. Matthews has all the tools to become a valuable weapon at the next level.
Bri’trevian Lee Bri’trevian Lee 6'4" | SF Northside | 2024 State LA 2024 6’3 Nortide High School, LA (Cenla Storm 2023)
Bri’trevian is a creative wing who specializes in his ability to finish in the paint through contact or evading it! I was very impressed with his ability to consistently finish in the paint over defenders, or by evading outstretched limbs! I was blown away by the ease in which he finished in the paint, displaying an array of difficult finishes and adjusting his shot angle. I would like to see him get more confident with his shot off the dribble, he turned the corner and got into the teeth of the defense with ease, but seemed to only be confident enough to attack the rim with his size. He was very impressive through his time on the court, showing off his high motor and the swagger he has when driving to the basket.
