Make sure you check out all of our articles about the 2023 class as college coaches are prioritizing this class to recruit right now.
Garito is a prospect who’s been seen as a scholarship target for a while and finally got an offer in July from Division II powerhouse Hillsdale. Garito is capable of playing both the power forward and center position with his size and mobility with his feet. If Garito can become more consistent finishing around the basket he will score a lot of points this season for a Brecksville squad expecting to compete for a district title.
Jacoby is a prospect who’s got a lot of upside and this spring and summer he improved his production. Jacoby is incredibly long and has shot-blocking potential to be a menace around the rim. I also saw Jacoby be more aggressive around the rim with some poster dunks on smaller defenders. Jacoby is a small town kid who scholarship programs should be targeting to develop at their program and be a key piece as an upperclassmen.
Jones is a prospect who flashed potential as an underclassmen but then was hurt for his Junior season. I watched Jones in one of his first games back from injury and noticed improvement with his body and skill level. Jones is a prospect who I’m going to make sure to watch this winter because he’ll be in better shape with more time back from his injuries. Jones could be a player who continues to improve his stock and gain a lot of recruiting steam if he continues to show improvement.
Pratt is a two sport stud who is getting ready to play the first regular season football game of his senior season. As an all-state quarterback, it appears Pratt will be more highly pursued by college programs on the gridiron than the hardwood, but don’t sleep on his ability playing basketball. Pratt is an explosive athlete who’s productive around the rim and has the ball skills to beat slower footed defenders off the dribble. From a physical standpoint there’s few players in rural NW Ohio that can match Pratt’s size, strength and coordination. Look for Pratt to have all-state seasons in the fall and winter for Van Wert as a senior.
Another multi-sport stud, Pleiman excels as a distance runner for cross country and track while also producing for 2021 state champion Botkins. Pleiman is a great utility player who does a lot of little things that help a team win. Whether it’s defending one of the top scorers, making the extra pass or grabbing offensive rebounds, Pleiman finds ways to impact the game. I think small college programs should be all over Pleiman because he’ll be able to give you production as an underclassmen and develop his offensive game if he chooses to focus on basketball for 12 months a year at the next level.
