They competed in the Prep Hoops Georgia Freshman Showcase – a new event to the Prep Hoops and Prep Girls Hoops schedules. Georgia’s was the first of what will be many Freshman Showcases staged under the Prep Hoops and Prep Girls Hoops banners. It took place at Lakepoint Sports Center – also the site of Georgia’s Prep Hoops and Prep Girls Hoops Top 250 Expo.
We unveiled an initial list of who caught our attention that Saturday. Here are a few more who accomplished just that.
Griffin is looking to make big gains with a Gainesville Red Elephants program that will see its coach – Chuck Graham – enter his fifth season at the helm. Listed at 6-foot-4, Griffin thrives primarily at the four in the frontcourt. He plays with a heads-up attitude on both ends of the floor and never takes a play off. On defense he is a threat to reject opponents’ shots and can convert on high-percentage shots as an offensive player. Griffin will grab plenty of rebounds, get from one end of the floor to the other with the ball in his hand and will absorb contact that can put him at the free throw line.
The game of basketball is something Nathaniel Mcdaniel Nathaniel Mcdaniel 5’10” | PG Sprayberry | 2026 GA can handle. The basketball itself is something he can handle as well given his ability to take care of the ball and limit turnovers. He too is likely to take and make his fair share of 3-point opportunities but will also set up his team’s offense in a halfcourt scheme. McDaniel is skilled as a rim attacker and has no problems finishing with his left hand. Ball distribution is another element to McDaniels’ overall game. One cannot help but think about McDaniel when one considers the upside he possesses.
Highlights
Following a stint on the travel circuit with Southern Kings 2026, Webb is looking to translate that momentum from the club realm into the high school season. At 6-foot-2, Webb looks to be a backcourt stalwart for the Patriots. An accurate 3-point shooter, he can drain his attempts from virtually anywhere on the perimeter. That proficiency from deep throws defenses off balance when he looks to pass as they are unsure if he will dish or swish. His height and high basketball IQ also enables him to make plays close to the basket. He will be part of a Patriots team that will be in defense of its AA state championship in 2022-23.
Love will begin the upcoming season with the Wildcats as the program itself is making a transition up from the 6A classification to the 7A ranks. What will Valdosta get with Love? It will get someone who is a gifted distributor of the ball and someone who can also shoot the 3-pointer. It will also get a talent who plays the one and who stands at 5-foot-10. The Wildcats on a total of 61 games in the last three seasons while playing in 6A. The team can expect for Love to be a much-appreciated virtue as Valdosta looks to duplicate its recent 6A success to the 7A field.
