The get-together welcomed 2026’s from across the state in what one can say is the first tune-up for many of these young up-and-comers as they enter their freshman campaigns.
As expected, there was no shortage of primetime performers who arrived at Lakepoint Sports Center with their balling shoes on. Here are four who accomplished just that in the foothills of the north Georgia mountains.
When one combines the height of a big with the overall skills of a one or a two, that is a lethal combination. Dupree looks to be quite the addition to the Patriots after playing previously at Mount de Sales Academy – also in Macon. Dupree can work within the flow of an offense and his height enables him to convert on high-percentage baskets near the rim. He also possesses a good deal of leaping ability and is not afraid to draw contact which can place him at the free throw line. The Patriots won 13 games in the first season of the Monquencio Hardnett era and with Dupree sporting its colors, one can expect Southwest to continue its ascent up the AA ranks.
If 6-foot-1 Dupree was something, how about this 6-foot-4 up-and-comer out of Mount Vernon. Montgomery’s AAU resume has included stints with Georgia Stars and Atlanta Crossovers. He delivers plenty of hustle which includes the ability to dive for loose balls. If one could describe his play in one word it would be “tough.” He is not afraid of contact that can place her at the free throw line. In addition to what he accomplishes as a guard, he also will play productive minutes as a wing. Coach Tarrik Mabon and Mustangs fans should be excited for what they will see out of Montgomery in the coming seasons.
Listed at 6-foot-3, Ard is coming off of an AAU season where he ran with Team Soo Fresh on the grassroots circuit. He lived up to his travel team’s name in Cartersville – particularly on the defensive end of the floor. He came up with rejections and made it difficult for opponents to convert easy baskets in the interior. Ard also showcased a bit of dribbling skills to compliment his scoring capabilities – including a knack for fadeaway jumpers. He was previously listed on the eighth grade team and has his sights set on even bigger things with the Region 3-7A Hawks.
Rhodes’ road throughout the 2022 offseason has taken him from his Norcross Heat travel team to the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase where he displayed a good deal of his 3-point shooting skills. He also has a knack for delivering crafty finishes at the rim and an ability to haul in a good number of rebounds. Rhodes stands at 6-foot-3 and plays primarily in the frontcourt as a three. The Blue Devils boast one of the most respected basketball programs in the state of Georgia on both the boys and girls ends of the spectrum and that will surely continue with standouts like Rhodes wearing Norcross colors.
