The future Hawkeye was absolutely dominant on both ends of the floor as a junior for Northwest, averaging 10.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 1.4 steals, and 2.9 blocks a game to go with his huge scoring output. He’s an elite shooter who can create his own looks or find spaces to get his shot off without the ball, and he’s also an elite free-throw shooter who will ice games away at the line.
2.) 2023 Riley Edwards Riley Edwards 6'3" | SG Southeast Polk | 2023 State IA (Southeast Polk) – 19.0
Edwards more than doubled his scoring output from his sophomore to junior years, going from 9.4 points a game as a sophomore to 19.0 last season. A 6-3 wing who can create his own looks, he could see his scoring numbers skyrocket if he shoots it at a clip more similar to his sophomore season from deep.
3.) 2023 Drew Kingery Drew Kingery 6'4" | SF Indianola | 2023 State IA (Indianola) – 18.7
The highest-ranked uncommitted player in the state, Kingery is coming off an excellent junior season and a great summer with Beyond Ball. He’s a long, athletic, and versatile 6-5 three-level scorer. He scores at an extremely efficient clip and has an excellent feel.
4.) 2023 Da’Shon Fisher Da’Shon Fisher 6'2" | SG Liberty | 2023 IA (Liberty) – 17.4
One of the best athletes in the state, Fisher is an absolute terror in transition who looks to dunk everything. He’s always had the ability to attack the rim, and he’s worked hard to add range to his arsenal, adding a solid mid-range game last season and working to extend out to the arc as a senior.
5.) 2023 Kewone Jones Kewone Jones 6'2" | SF Waterloo East | 2023 State IA (Waterloo East) – 17.4
Jones enjoyed a breakout junior year, posting 52-37-79 shooting splits while leading the Trojans in scoring. He’s a physical 6-2 forward who can take bigger defenders off the dribble, stretch the floor against smaller defenders while showing a quick release off the catch, as well as score off of offensive rebounds, an area in which he excels.
6.) 2023 Traijan Sain Traijan Sain 6'5" | SF Cedar Rapids Washington | 2023 State IA (Cedar Rapids Washington) – 17.1
Sain has always been one of the most talented players in the 2023 class, but last year he really started to put everything together on the offensive end, gaining confidence in his jumper and showing an aptitude for taking over games on that end of the floor. He can create his own look with an improving handle, and with his size, he can get his shot off pretty much whenever he wants.
7.) 2024 Trovary Cavil Trovary Cavil 5'11" | PG Johnston | 2024 State IA (Des Moines Lincoln) – 17.1
A quick lead guard with excellent handles, Cavil is able to get by his defender seemingly at will and get to the bucket for finishes. He’s armed with a strong mid-range game, getting the ball into his shooting pocket quickly off the dribble, and he’s working to extend that range to the arc.
8.) 2023 Keavian Hayes Keavian Hayes 6'2" | SG Sioux City West | 2023 State IA (Sioux City West) – 17.1
An athletic, physical 6-2 guard, Hayes is at his best when he’s attacking the rim and finishing, but he has steadily improved his perimeter stroke, turning himself into a reliable three-level scorer for the Wolverines.
9.) 2024 Caden Wilkins Caden Wilkins 6'7" | SF Bettendorf | 2024 State #196 Nation IA (Bettendorf) – 16.1
Wilkins is coming off an excellent summer with the Iowa Barnstormers in which he may have established himself as a nationally-ranked prospect. A 6-6/6-7 wing who can really shoot it, he has an elite feel for the game and is able to take over games in the blink of an eye. He looks primed to emerge as one of the state’s elite scorers as a junior.
10.) 2023 Cade Kelderman Cade Kelderman 6'0" | PG Waukee Northwest | 2023 State IA (Waukee Northwest) – 16.0
A talented lefty guard, Kelderman is a perfect complement alongside Sandfort for the Wolves. He posted impressive 50-43-84 shooting splits as a junior, showing his ability to get to the rim and finish through contact as well as shoot it at a high clip both off the dribble and the catch.
