Check out my analysis on some of the top 2024 point guards whose names you need to know for the upcoming season. These guys are likely to lead their high school teams to some special performances in the near future, and I cannot wait to see them perform soon. They really popped over the last few months and made a name for themselves through their stellar play in the circuit months.

[player_tooltip player_id='2112011' first='Payton' last='Jones'] 2024 6'0 Homeschool (RL9 Honor Armor Lions)

Payton is a complete guard prospect with an ability to create space with his handle, create opportunities for his teammates, attack the rim or score from beyond the arc. Jones seems to be getting better and better every time I get to see him in action. His energy and effectiveness with a live dribble really stood out and it fuels his team to success. His aggressiveness with the basketball bled through into every aspect of his game, flying around the court after loose balls and long rebounds. He is a good and willing rebounder for his size and position and even got a few easy looks by following his own shot. He is a deadly scorer when he decides to pull up and can do so from beyond the arc or in the mid-range. I was very impressed by the ease in which he scored off the bounce. His ability to attack the rim opened up every other aspect of his game. Jones is one you need to keep your eye on!

Myles Dealy 2024 6'1 Tomball Memorial High School (Hardwork Basketball Academy)

Myles is a high level scorer off the bounce who affect the game from all three levels of the floor with his ability to penetrate and create opportunities for his teammates. He is an impressive scorer off the bounce and is deadly accurate when given time to set his feet and catch and shoot. He is a confident scorer and playmaker with his ability to get past his on ball defender and keep them on his hip and force the second defender to make a decision. I was very impressed with his natural point guard instincts and his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and fire creative passes out to his teammates. He made the right reads and found his teammates wide open on the back side of the defense after he drew a second defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1417098" first="Kasen" last="Hastings"] 2024 6'0 Krum High School, TX (DC Kings Denton 2024)

Kasen is a skilled point guard who sees the floor at an extremely high level and sets up his teammates very well in the half court. He routinely found his teammates with timely passes and aware cross court passes that found his wide open teammates on the back side of the defense. I was impressed by his ability to get into the teeth of the defense and make the right reads to set up his team for easy looks, either from dump off passes or on the weak side. He is a tough finisher in the paint, who showed an ability to get his shot off over bigger defenders. He displayed an ability to score off the dribble from the mid-range and beyond the arc as well. I would like to see him work on tightening up his handle and creating space within the half court through quick crossovers.

Mason Saad 2024 5'11 McKinney Boyd High School, TX (Victory Academy 2024 White)

Mason is an aggressive on ball defender, who can also space the floor and be a weapon on the perimeter with his shot making ability. His consistency from the corners and wings really stood out as he consistently knocked down shots off the catch. I was very impressed with his ability to poke the ball free and then run on the break. He constantly made good decisions on the break and even pulled up for a three off the bounce. He had an emphatic chase down block that got his team's energy up and proved to be a turning point in the game. I would like to see him use his aggressiveness to get into the teeth of the defense and finish at the rim with more consistency.
