Wisconsin Crusaders 17U Start Off Day with Win Behind Heck’s Shooting
Day began with the Wisconsin Crusaders 17U capturing a 58-42 W against The Collective 16U from Canada. Ethan Heck was lights out especially in the first half! The Crusaders small forward is a knock down shooter that made mid-range jumper and threes in bunches. Also crashes the glass and has some handles. He had 15 points. Workman like effort from their star Levi Birkholz using his strength getting to the line and finishing in paint for 10 points.
The Collective Elite was led by Terrance Thomas. The 5’10” point guard is a smaller guard that can really shoot it from beyond the arc draining five triples for 15 points. Jacob Asomani is another guard to track on this team in 2024. Gets to the line and did a little bit of everything for 11 points.
Louisville Legends A2P 16U Capture Narrow Win Over Minnesota Spartans
This game went right down to the wire! The Louisville Legends A2P scored a 73-71 W behind their star Quelron House. The 6’0” lead guard from the Louisville Legends was such a terrific on ball scorer that knocked in threes early and then went to work with his smooth driving on his way to 16 points. Also got a huge pick up from Dalton Hicks and Leetwon Bray. The duo posted huge second halves with 21 points and 15 points each.
The Minnesota Spartans had several impressive prospects. First and foremost 6’8” power forward Chiang Ring who was an outstanding rebounder on both ends and defender. Rim runs and finishes well around the hoop for 16 points. Their center Emiliano Barrantes has legit size at 6’9” and dunked everything in his area for 14 points. Their star guard Jerome Williams opened up with a monster first half draining four from distance for 16 points.
Full Package 17U and Stars Basketball Nashville 16U Tangle in Offensive Show
These two teams got up and down the floor putting up a ton of points! New Trier 2023 wing Jake Fiegen Jake Fiegen 6'3" | SG New Trier | 2023 State IL lit it up in the portion of this game we caught with his knock down shooting and transition scoring. Lemont point guard Rokas Castillo Rokas Castillo 5'11" | PG Lemont | 2023 State IL had a big game knocking in threes, passing with a ton of flair, converting and-1s, and playing his usual great D.
On the other side for Stars Basketball Club out of Nashville their wings caught our attention again. Class of 2024 wing Brady Shoulders can hit shots at a high level. Daniel Cochran brings versatility on the offensive end playing inside/out.
In-State Battle Goes Breakaway 16U Way Behind Elite Shot Making Performance
What a shooting performance that Breakaway put on during their 76-56 victory vs Basketball Paradise. As a team they made 12 triples led by six of them from Connor May. The Palatine 2024 forward was one of the top breakout players from the weekend. He can really shoot it off the catch, but has some off the bounce game and floaters as well netting 29 points. Downers Grove South shooting guard Jack Stanton Jack Stanton 6'2" | SG Downers Grove North | 2024 State #222 Nation IL also had it going from three as he had 17 points. Inside it was big man Jake Riemer who has strength, quick moves, and touch for 10 points all in the first half.
Basketball Paradise was pushed by Neuqua Valley point guard Luke Kinkade Luke Kinkade 6'3" | PG Neuqua Valley | 2024 State IL . The crafty guard knocked in multiple threes along with scoop shots. He had 18 points.
D1 Indiana 17U Wins Fun Contest Over Hoops 4 Health
Last game of the summer for these two squads that have quite a few college prospects saw D1 Indiana top Hoops 4 Health 79-66. Really liked what we saw out of big man Grgur Brcic who stands at 6’9” with broad shoulders and a strong frame. He had some massive dunks on alley-oops for 22 points.
Hoops 4 Health was led by Oak Lawn guard Xavier Sulaiman Xavier Sulaiman 6'3" | SG Oak Lawn | 2023 State IL with his electric scoring on display one last time this summer. Threes and transition dunks like usual for 24 points. Homewood Flossmoor 6’3” small forward Jayden Maxwell put his name on our map with a versatile performance from his wing spot recording 16 points.
Midwest Basketball Club 15U High-Major Prospects Shine
The Midwest Basketball Club 15U is big and athletic filled with college prospects. They had it on display in a 66-52 victory over a banged up Iowa Barnstormers 16U squad. EJ Walker was the story for Midwest Basketball Club. The 2025 big man has a great frame and can really rebound. In the second half his offensive game came alive knocking in face up jumpers in bunches in addition to his quickness around the hoop notching 15 points. Long and rangy wing Kingston Land jumps off the floor with his upside, athleticism, and two way potential as he totaled 9 points. Ethan Greenburg is a skilled wing with good size and scoring pop that dropped 16 points.
For the Barnstormers it was Kavon Phillips who stepped up. Rangy small forward that is an active player on both ends with his best play coming when he swatted a three point shot and took it the other way for a score. Went for 14 points. True five man Asher Wade has a bright future with his rebounding and finishing in the paint for 16 points.
Fundamental U Finishes Off 4-0 Weekend
It was all Fundamental U in this 16U game as they won 63-40 over DTO to finish the weekend with a perfect record while having quite a few prospects make names for themselves. Glenbrook South power forward Nick Taylor had a big weekend showing his toughness and quickness in the paint netting 16 points. At his guard spot Nate Kasher did what he has done all weekend recording 11 points.
DTO’s star Joey Cabana was shut down in the first half, but came alive in the second half where we saw some of the stuff we liked on Friday with his ability to score with athleticism around the rim.
