Over the past few years it seemed as though teams like Olympus were going to run the table or even Timpview but it seems as though there is a lot of parity in 5A as we have seen some teams absolutely run it and some other teams still trying to figure it out.
Olympus might not be the juggernaut that they once had been they still have some dudes that can ball and that is Dutch Dowdell Dutch Dowdell 6'6" | SG Olympus | 2024 State #310 Nation UT and Jordan Barnes Jordan Barnes 6'4" | PG Olympus | 2024 State UT . These two will likely. combine for 25+ a game as they look to run it back. With a lack of size they will be vulnerable.
Wooda Cross is a team to fear as they have two dynamic scorers in Mason Bendinger Mason Bendinger 6'3" | CG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT and Jaxon Smith Jaxon Smith 6'1" | PG Woods Cross | 2023 State UT . A lot of little pieces as well as they have some role players that could really help them out. Alex Brey being one of them as is Hunter Jackson Hunter Jackson 6'3" | PG Woods Cross | 2025 State UT .
Murray might be the team to beat as they have the top scorer in the state coming back in Chudi Anosike Chudi Anosike 6'5" | CG Murray | 2023 State UT who has just been lights out everywhere he plays. Jaxson Workman Jaxson Workman 6'0" | SG Murray | 2023 State UT is proving to be one of the most dangerous shooters in the state as well. These guys can score and are loaded.
Lehi could be at it again as they return a lot of solid pieces from a good run last season. Cooper Lewis Cooper Lewis 6'1" | PG Lehi | 2024 State UT is a tough shooting guard.
The team that intrigues me the most is Alta. Alta has all the guys and height to really be a contender and when they keep it simple they are dang dangerous. Jaxon Johnson Jaxon Johnson 6'8" | SF Alta | 2024 State #106 Nation UT is a D1 talent and he has a unbelievable ceiling. The kid is good all over the floor. Nash Hinck is a good little PG as well. Carter Doleac Carter Doleac 6'8" | PF Alta | 2024 State UT seems to be coming into his own and knowing his role. If Alt acan get the ball to it’s best players in crunch time they will have a shot.
Bountiful has a young core but should be better.
Timpview is young but they have two solid players in Dean Rueckert Dean Rueckert 6'7" | SF Timpview | 2026 State UT and James Rust James Rust 6'5" | CG Timpview | 2023 State UT .
The team that could shock everyone could be the Orem Tigers. This team is not only young, but they are fun to watch. Chance Dstrup is a good shooter and Lance Reynolds Lance Reynolds 6'1" | PG Orem | 2024 UT will be solid coming back. Trey Hiatt Trey Hiatt 6'6" | PF Orem | 2025 State UT is also a solid prospect. The two players that will be fun to watch and develop will Kai Wesley Kai Wesley 6'8" | PF Orem | 2026 State UT and Anthony Felesi Anthony Felesi 6'6" | CG Utah Prep | 2026 State UT as they are bot really good incoming freshmen. Anthony is on another level and soon he will be one of those players that everyone knows. Kai is big and will fill into his body but not only is he a dude on the basketball court he is an outstanding pitcher as well. This kid could be a dual sport D1 talent.
