Jeremiah Fears Jeremiah Fears 6'1" | PG AZ Compass Prep | 2025 State #31 Nation AZ — PG — Hoops 4 Health — 17U
Sometimes when you watch a prospect play, you just know. And with Fears I just know. This point guard is going to be a phenomenal player at the college level. Fears is a 2025 prospect, yet he is playing up two age groups. For his age, he is so savvy and creative. Fears does an awesome job of slashing to the rim and finding ways to finish layups. He is also a superb passer and ball handler.
Caleb Hannah — SF — Illinois Jaguars — 17U
Hannah was a standout prospect at the Summer Challenge last year. It was much of the same this weekend. I really love what I saw from the small forward on the defensive end. He uses his length and athleticism to block shots and protect the paint. On the offensive end of the court, the small forward throws down some impressive dunks and finishes at the rim. College coaches should certainly keep an eye on Hannah this summer.
Tyler Van Gorp Tyler Van Gorp 6'10" | C New Trier | 2023 State IL — PF — Hoops 4 Health — 17U
I didn’t think that Van Gorp got off to the best start on Sunday. But he bounced back in a major way. The power forward has a nice 10-15 foot jump shot, which forces the opposing defense to respect his shot. I really like the Hoops 4 Health prospect as a defender, too. He rebounds, blocks shots, and is very nimble for his size. If I was a Division One program, I would certainly take a good look at Van Gorp.
Matas Buzelis — SF — Full Package — 17U
Buzelis’ talent is so obvious. He stands at 6-foot-10 and has very long arms, which has become an ideal frame for basketball. The small forward has a super tight handle and smooth jumper. As an isolation scorer, Buzelis is almost unstoppable. He uses his rare combination of size and skill to score with ease. The SF is also a phenomenal athlete who threw down some super impressive dunks this weekend.
William Whorton William Whorton 6'8" | PF Rufus King | 2023 State WI — SF — Wisconsin Playground Club — 17U
Whorton is improving at a rapid pace, and I think that he is going to have a huge summer AAU session. At one point today, Whorton scored seven quick points and showed off all of his offensive skills. The small forward made a three, knocked down two free throws, and finished a layup at the rim. Already holding a D1 scholarship offer, look for Whorton to potentially add some more by the end of the AAU season.
Nik Raic — PF — Fundamental U — 17U
I didn’t get to see a ton of Raic play this weekend. However, when I did see him play, the power forward was outstanding. He was a dominant rebounder, great defender, and ran the floor really well for a big man. In transition, the PF was able to throw down some huge dunks. I look forward to watching Raic more this summer.
