Sean Brown-Coley Sean Brown-Coley 6'0" | SF Whitney Young | 2024 State IL – Team Ten Jabari Parker, 16u
After watching him play Saturday afternoon against Team Tru, I can surely say Brown-Coley can be an X-factor guy. Despite the loss, he was all over the floor for team Jabari. He hit shots from all three levels, and played stellar defense to keep his team in it. But what I loved most was his playmaking abilities. I counted at least six assists in the first half of that game.
Kobe Jordan – M14 Hoops 15u
Jordan’s got a very nice build for his position. He showed me lots of explosiveness with a strong burst down the lane for some tough scores. He also got his teammates involved a lot in the game I watched, dishing up several assists. Later on, he stretched out his range for a 3-pointer, and continued to attack the basket. He’s a player to watch in the future.
Theo Rocca – Fundamental U 15u
I got to watch Rocca play a lot this weekend. He’s a craft point guard capable of attacking the basket, and letting it fly. He hit several 3-pointers in the first game against Clippers Nation Elite. He also displays long arms for a point guard, and it helped him pick up numerous steals and fast break points throughout the day. I even saw him out his body on the line, and take a charge against No Limit that afternoon.
Josh Aniceto Josh Aniceto 5'9" | PG Bolingbrook | 2024 State IL – Basketball Paradise 16u
I’ve become a big fan of Aniceto. He’s got the potential to be one of the top floor generals in his class. His speed and ball-handling is top-notch. I didn’t see him commit a single turnover against Team Rose Saturday evening. Aniceto is truly an unselfish player who always does what’s best for his team. Wether its making the extra pass on a fast-break, or stepping-back with confidence from 3, Aniceto never makes bad choices. He hit two clutch free throws to seal the win late that game.
Taki Purdis – Chicago Demons 15u
Purdis was the go-to guy for Chicago Demons against Midwest Aces. He found nine first half points that game and found a bucket from all levels in the opening frame. He’s got a nice burst to the basket with good ball-control. By the second half, he entered double figures and broke off a defender for a layup. I also saw him utilize the pick-and-roll to earn some more points for his team.
Jon’Tayveon Samuels – Team Rose 16u
Here’s a new player to watch from the Rockford Area. Samuels got off to a blazing start for Team Rose against Basketball Paradise. Knocking down shots from several areas of the floor with a smooth lefty-stroke, and taking advantage of the pick-and-roll to break off defenders. His step-back game was on point too. Later on, he became more of a playmaker with some unselfish basketball to help bring them back from a deficit to nearly steal the game.
Nas Z Jackson – Next Generation Academy 15u
Jackson had a terrific game for NextGen. Has forced numerous turnovers early on, and his passing abilities are even more impressive. I didn’t see him make a bad decision against Joliet Spurs this morning. He was even able to knock down a 3 late in the first half. In the 2nd half, he attacked the basket more, drawing fouls and converting from the line.
