There are plenty of college coaches in attendance, and some of these kids in attendance have a real chance to turn some attention their way.
Michael Daniels 2023 6’5 Liberty Hill High School (ATX Lockdown 17U)
Michael is a skilled player who has an incredibly crafty ability to create space with a live dribble. I was very impressed by his calmness with a live dribble, confidently taking any defender off the bounce and getting to the rim. The threat of him getting two feet in the paint forced a second defender to always slide over to make him give it up. He confidently made the right pass, whether it was kicking it out to the top of the key or making the right cross court pass to an open shooter on the outside. He is a real three level threat, who calmly scores from beyond the arc and in the mid-range, depending on what the defense gives him. Another aspect of his game that stood out was his willingness to move without the basketball, and also run the floor for easy opportunities. Michael has all of the tools to really affect the game in any way he wants, and looks to be an extremely mold-able basketball player.
Jhmauri Coleman 2023 6’4 San Antonio Can High School (DC Kings SA 17U)
Jhmauri is a very impressive wing prospect with his nonstop motor and willingness to play down low and dominate the small ball forward role if necessary. He is aggressive with the basketball, wanting to blow by you with his speed, and then use his strength to bounce off of you. He is smart with his handle and his use of quick two dribble attacks or pull ups. He manipulates his defender out of the triple threat very well. He is consistently on the offensive and defensive glass, and loves to push the tempo after collecting rebounds, whether it is with a pass ahead or using his handle to go coast to coast. I would like to see him work on continuing to develop his set shot from the outside with more consistency.
Tylan Reed 2023 6’6 Cedar Hill High School (Gators Elite 2023)
Tylan is a high level wing prospect who showed an ability to stretch the floor and attack the rim with a live dribble. He has a smooth stroke on his jumper, with a very high release allowing him to shoot over anyone. He is a high percentage shooter when given time to set his feet and space the floor, but is not afraid to put the ball on the floor and attack a hard closeout. He really shined as a screener, creating opportunities for his teammates through the space he made but also rolled hard to the basket for easy looks in the paint. Reed has an incredibly impressive frame, built like a line backer, with good agility for his size. He moved his feet very well defensively, guarding the perimeter and also exploding to protect the rim. I would like to see him continue to develop his play-making ability and improving his handle in the open court.
Luke Mills 2023 6’5 Reagan High School (SA ProSkills 17U Black)
Luke is a hard working wing prospect with the ability to affect the game on the interior, with his nonstop motor and willingness to fight on the glass. He has really improved a lot since the last school season, and again since I saw him in early May. He is much more confident with his handle and ability to attack downhill. He is already a confident scorer with his back to the basket, and is just beginning to tap into his effectiveness as a slashing prospect. Where he really makes his mark is his switch ability and willingness to defend all five positions. He is strong down low, allowing him to compete and bump with other strong forwards, but is athletic enough to move his feet and take away guards driving lanes. I would like to see him become more consistent with his shot off the catch, and continued development in the mid-range and at the free throw line.
Peyton Gusters Peyton Gusters 6'5" | SF Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy | 2023 State TX 2023 6’5 Oak Cliff Faith Family Academy (AJ1)
Peyton is a long athlete who has an ability to truly do it all on both ends of the floor. His length allows him to defend all positions on the floor and his foot speed allows him to harass high level guards in the full court. His ability to defend the best players on the court and seemingly tale them away really allowed his defense to take advantage of relaxing a bit more on the defensive end. It allowed his center to stay back in the paint and everyone else just deny the ball when he was on the court. He is a strong trapper of the basketball who uses his ability to seemingly swallow up his opponents by his harassing nature on the ball. On the offensive end of the floor he is a very active player off the ball, he can run off screens, create offense at the high post or flash to the rim. I was very impressed with his willingness to get on the offensive glass, every time a shot goes up he is sprinting and leaping towards the rim at the highest level.
