The Eugene/Springfield summer league concluded recently. The four week session featured Churchill, Sheldon, Willamette, North Eugene, Springfield, South Eugene, Thurston, and Marist Catholic. Here are the top performers from the four week session.

[player_tooltip player_id="1480857" first="Devon" last="Anderson"] (2023 North Eugene)

Anderson is an electric scorer and athlete. He used his athleticism on both ends of the court to create opportunities for himself and his teammates. The rising senior will need to get buckets if the Highlanders are going to reach their potential this upcoming season. He will also have to have a huge presence on the defensive end, especially helping off ball to protect the rim. Anderson projects to be a great addition on a NWAC roster after his time at North Eugene is complete.

[player_tooltip player_id="1480858" first="Cooper" last="Case"](2023 Churchill)

Case was consistently the best player over the four week session at Springfield HS. His motor is elite and provides the Lancers with extra opportunities through steals and offensive rebounds. The jump shot looked solid all spring though Case only shoots wide open looks. Case is dynamic off the dribble. He has an above average wingspan that allows for sweeping drives to the rim for easy buckets. Case is a little under the radar right now but we think he could end up at a Cascade Conference or Northwest Conference school.

[player_tooltip player_id="1110574" first="Owen" last="Cramer"] (2023 Sheldon)

The Irish were one of the better teams over the four week session and Cramer was the leader for Sheldon. He provides a floor general and a player/coach on the floor for Eric Orton’s team. Cramer has a tight handle on the ball and showed that he could constantly get into the lane which created shots for his teammates. His game is not flashy but Cramer is the glue that keeps this Irish team together. Cramer would be a great addition at the NWAC or D3 level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1382417" first="Luke" last="Leighton"] (2023 Sheldon)

The Irish football standout has one of the highest potential upsides on the basketball court in the southern Willamette valley. Leighton has the athletic ability to be one of the top players in the Southwest Conference (6A) this upcoming season. Look for the 6’5" wing to be a go to option whenever Sheldon needs a basket. He is also a high academic which will open doors to schools nation wide. Leighton would be a coach’s dream in the Northwest Conference or Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

[player_tooltip player_id="1085782" first="Solomon" last="Nice"] (2023 South Eugene)

Nice has one of the best upsides in the class of 2023. The 6’5" wing was up and down over the late spring and early summer but came on strong at the UO Team Camp and on the last week of summer league. He will be a force this year for South Eugene as they look to bounce back from a down year in 21-22. He showed a nice jumper and the ability to really play solid defense on and off the ball. Nice has been in touch with a number of schools and would be a solid fit in the Northwest Conference or Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. He will not be playing on the grassroots circuit this summer but keep at eye out in the fall and winter for a big season.
