It’s now over halfway through the month of July and the final "NCAA Live" period for the 2022 grassroots season is days away. With colleges having their upcoming rosters mostly squared away, they are now focused on targeting Class of 2023 players. That has led to an increase in scholarship offers being handed out to the top players in Oklahoma. Here’s a primer for new recent offer for many of the top prospects in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="1068562" first="Brandon" last="Garrison"], 6’9 PF, Del City - Committed to Oklahoma State.

A couple weeks ago the state’s top prospect made the decision to continue his basketball career in Stillwater, continuing Mike Boynton’s commitment to securing top Oklahoma talent. Garrison is a defensive specialist and rebounder, but also excels as a great passer for a post player. He’s a talented outlet passer and is big time at keeping the offense flowing and setting up teammates for high percentage looks in the halfcourt.

New D1 Offers

[player_tooltip player_id="967379" first="Parker" last="Friedrichsen"], 6’4 CG, Bixby

The former Oklahoma State commitment has had a busy spring and summer on the UAA Circuit and at national camps. In recent weeks, he has added to his extensive offer list with, Marshall, San Fransisco, DePaul, SMU, Northwestern, Memphis and Davidson. He’s also visited Cincinnati and Xavier in the past month. An elite shooter and strong all around scorer, Friedrichson has a deep offer list but keep an eye on Nebraska and Creighton as strong contenders for his service.

[player_tooltip player_id="1360350" first="Connor" last="Dow"], 6’6 SF, Broken Arrow

Another 918 sharpshooter, Dow has made waves playing on the EYBL with Team Griffin. He entered April with little D1 interest, but now has four offers from Toledo, South Dakota State, Oral Roberts and Omaha. The Golden Eagles will be working hard to keep the gritty hometown kid in the 918 and new Omaha head coach Chris Crutchfield has deep ties to Oklahoma. All four of their programs face stiff competition, as Power 5 programs including Oklahoma, are now keep tabs on the fast rising prospect.

New Small School Offers

[player_tooltip player_id="1079009" first="Carter" last="Hjelmstad"], 6’5 SF/PF, Edmond Memorial

All spring Hjelmstad has looked like a player ready to step into a leading role for the Bulldogs the winter. A couple weekends ago in Texas, the versatile scorer finally broke through and earned a pair of offers from programs in Kansas. First McPherson, a NAIA program, offered than Pittsburgh State, a D2 program, followed it up. The options for the industrious forward should only continue to increase as he provides a scoring punch along with a willingness to get his nose dirty on the glass.

[player_tooltip player_id="1182164" first="Matthew" last="Willenborg"], 6’7 SF/PF, Norman

A lanky inside-outside threat, Willenborg picked up his first collegiate offer from Jewell College in Missouri. The Norman Tiger moved to Oklahoma last year from Florida and has enjoyed a successful spring with elite independent program Buddy Buckets. With good shooting from the perimeter, Willenborg fits well into the versatile and position-less basketball trends.
