2023 Rankings Update: Top Point Guards

<p>Their last season of "summer ball" is over and their 17u AAU seasons are about to start back up. Here’s a look at the top point guards in the 2023 class. This does not include players who made the Top Ten list for the class. Those players have been covered separately.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="932780" first="Grant" last="Whitaker"], Murray - Recently committed to Bellarmine, Grant is a bigger point guard who has shown a very high basketball IQ and the ability to get buckets against about any defender who stands in his way. An efficient scorer, Whitaker had shooting splits of 56/38/79 while averaging 18 points and 5 rebounds for the first region champs and got the Tigers to the Elite 8 at Rupp.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="932769" first="Dallas" last="Roberts"], North Oldham - One of the top scoring guards in the class, Roberts has been leading the charge for North Oldham for several years and will graduate as the best player in school history. Dallas has shown that he has the versatility to score or create open looks for teammates by getting paint touches and getting to the rim. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1493242" first="Omari" last="Glover"], Warren Central - A new name in the rankings, Omari was one of the stars of the KHSAA Sweet 16 in March and nearly got the Dragons to cut the nets. Glover has shown the ability to get downhill and finish at the rim over bigger defenders and is one of the best playmakers in western Kentucky. He’s a D1 athlete for sure and should see offers his way soon.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="932772" first="Jack" last="Edelen"], Male - Jack is another player who seems like he’s been playing varsity basketball forever. Whether it was at Ballard or now at Male, Edelen has shown he is one of the most prolific floor generals in Louisville as he is a willing passer who has also shown that he can go and get 30+ points in a game if needed. With Jack’s strong academics, he has been touring Ivy League and other high academic schools all along the east coast the last couple of weeks and can play at that level in college for sure.</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1124021" first="Gerard" last="Thomas"], Henderson County - A big riser in this rankings update, Thomas has been a hot name with low to mid D1 coaches in the past 6 weeks or so and drew a crowd of coaches at Collins last month. Gerard can get to the rim against about anyone and is an above average finisher.
