Summer Vacation Edition: Class of 2023 Rankings Overview

<p>The month of June is here!  That means that the spring grassroots season has finished and the preparations for the 2022-2023 high school season have begun with team camps happening throughout Louisiana.  It also means that it is time for the 2023 rankings in Louisiana to be updated.  Here is an overview of the latest rankings update for the class of 2023.  Once a class that was thought to be real top heavy is emerging into one with more depth than previously thought.  </p> <p><strong>Class of 2023 Top 10</strong></p> <ol> <li><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055172" first="Corey" last="Lavergne"] (North Central / 6’3" / Louisiana Elite)</strong></li> </ol> <p>The top player mantle in the class of 2023 now goes to <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055172" first="Corey" last="Chest"]</strong> from Eleanor McMain.  He has been ascending since the summer of 2020 and has now become the top player.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970120" first="Chris" last="Lockett"]</strong> is now the #2 player in the class.  The 2022 Division III state champion is the best combo guard in the state.  Lockett is followed by 2x Class 5A state champion <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1130799" first="Brandon" last="Rodgers-Hardy"]</strong>.  Hardy may be the most dynamic guard we have and is climbing up the latter nationally.  Southern Lab Kitten forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970133" first="Tyler" last="Ringgold"]</strong> is the fourth rated player.  He was the Division IV title game MOP and has the all-around game to prove it.  Rounding out the top five is <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1055170" first="John" last="Kelly"]</strong>.  The versatile forward is one of the reasons the Shaun Dumas Academy had so much success in its first season.   </p> <p>Positions six through ten had some shifting with players reclassifying and moving to other states.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970111" first="Jamaria" last="Clark"]</strong> remains at the sixth spot and is regarded as the best distance shooter in the class.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1130920" first="Canin" last="Jefferson"]</strong> is seventh and is the top point guard in this class and possibly in Louisiana.  <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970138" first="Warren" last="Young"]</strong>, the combo scoring guard out of Walker, is the eighth rated player in the class.  Wing <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970112" first="Jaylon" last="Hicks"]</strong>, from the Class 4A state champion Carver Rams, is now the 9th rated player in the class.  Rounding out the top 10 is another state champion in <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="970125" first="De’Vion" last="Lavergne"]</strong> of North Central.  </p> <p><strong>Stock Risers
